HID headlight upgrade

Has anyone done this? I've used Hid kits before but have always been disappointed with the quality of the Chinese parts.

Is OEM good? Available?

Have suggestions?

Thankyou

The ST2 and ST3 OEM housings are great projectors, but the set will run you something like $800+ if you buy it all from Ford.

Your best bet would be to either have someone retrofit a pair of Halogen housings for you or do it yourself.

Most of the Chinese ones are low quality projectors that are meant more for Halogen bulbs than HIDs and you'll more than likely have issues with LEDs going out in the housings within a year or two.

If you want HIDs, you really only have 2 options if you want to do it right.

Option 1
Retrofit halogen reflectors with HID projectors
- You can either do this your self if you are handy and confident or pay a fellow member or retrofitter to do it for you properly
- Cost around $300-700

Option 2
OEM ST2/ST3/RS Headlights
- You have a MK3.5 so you will need the OEM HID proejctors that come on the ST2/ST3/RS
- Price for the pair will be around $1,000 for a used pair from ebay
- This will look great on your car

So the affordable systems around $150 might be my best bet. Even though they're a hassle to wire and make sure no error codes are produced... $1000 is out of my league.

I'll stick to halogen for now. As they get old and burn out I'll get something better. Either LED plug-in or HID rewire.

Thanks
