Buying used 2012 Focus...thing to look out for?

Hey guys, so I don't have a Focus now, but I need to ditch my expensive car since I'm going to school and just want a car I can pay cash for, and be done with payments(yay for cheaper insurance and gas too!). So I thought I'd pop over here and get some advice. I'm a guy who loves features so I feel a loaded SE or regular Titanium is for me. I will always have a manual too, so I don't want the DCT. I have a few for sale in my area that are 2012 Titaniums going for decent prices(wow do they depreciate fast!). I just want to know if there are any "growing-pain" issues on the first model year of the MK3 focus. I know on the first model year of the Chevy Cruze, they had water pump issues and stuff, but it was ironed out for 2012. Something similar to the Focus? I know the 2.0L is a great engine, so no worries, there, but I'm curious if there's anything I need to know before looking at one. So here's a couple things I would like to know:
1) Anything to know about common problems on 2012 cars
2) Is it true that I can get free updates for the center screen(like how they added 4 blocks in one screen on the information display for fuel consumption, range, etc.) and MyFordTouch?
I think that's it. Let me know if 2012's are a no-go sort of thing, or if they are as solid as any other model year. Thanks guys!

The transmission is the most common problem and as updates go, you can go to the Ford website and get updates for the stereo but I don't think it changed the dash screen. There were different dash screens, so it could different

Check the build date. Some 2012 MK3 had a steering rack issue that could be very expensive to repair.

I would get a 2013 just because 2012 has some more problems then most..even without DCT and those problems my freind's 2012 has had both rear brake calipers seize, had one engine replaced due to knock, under ford extended warranty..can't remeber what else but a bunch of issues and some of them see to be more common with 2012.

As an owner of a '13 titanium, i gotta say, nice choice! Personally, I prefer the 13 over my 12 (and not jus because the 13 is a 5spd)... Tilting headrests, for example, are one reason... some 12's had fixed angle headrests.... you can get the handling pack, which changes the suspension, stiffens it up and bumps the wheels upto an 18"...

only two reasons id EVER suggest a dct over a manual is 1) Active Park and 2)true factory remote start. Other than that, 5spd all the things!

Have a 2012 SE. Have owned it for a couple of weeks now, pretty solid so far. Having an issue with driver side window working intermittently, regulator was changed but pretty sure it's the motor. Check history on that when making purchase.

Check the switch, mine failed twice (driver and passenger) cost is minimal.

Not that many people care but CR gave the Focus an abysmal rating ......but keep in mind the 2011-2013 Chevy Cruze was also deemed "completely unacceptable"

Oh yeah some other problems with 2012.... steering wandering as mentioned above, and premature control arm bushing failure (cracks)..causing noise and rough ride over uneven surfaces
