Transmission

Looking at purchasing a 2015 focus se, but have been doing some reading and every says do not buy this car because of transmission issues and I gues ford won't take care of it? Is this true? Is this an on going issue? Is it worth buying the car??

Read about the 14M01 extension of the warranty on the transmissions on this forum. Lots of info available. As long as you are under 100K miles, you can get the faulty seals and clutch replaced at no cost. I think the issue has lowered the market value of these vehicles so as long as Ford is fixing them, this can be to your advantage as a buyer. There have been owners that have had to have this fixed multiple times but Ford has gone through several iterations of the clutch and the latest seems to be working much better for most than the earlier versions.

I've had mine for a month and the transmission still slips a little because the car hasn't been in for this service yet but overall it seems to be a great car. I was able to get it for about $2400 below book value and it sat at the used car dealer for quite a while, probably due to the transmission hiccup. If the clutch and seals fix the problem long term, it was a heck of a deal. The parts just came in at the dealer and I'm scheduled to have the work done on Wednesday.

Or the white 2015 SE is what you plan to own, but asking first on here??

Just wondering?

I'd say test drive it and as long as it drives good buy it. I have a 2014 with a DCT and i have no issues with my trans. it's all about how you drive it. you have to treat it like a manual and it will be fine.

[QUOTE=Jburks;10465946 it's all about how you drive it. you have to treat it like a manual and it will be fine.[/QUOTE]

What a stupid comment. It's an automatic for god's sake. There's no clutch pedal so how the f*k can you treat it like a manual? And how many people here actually know how to drive a manual anyways? A well designed auto transmission should not care how you drive it - it should just work in any situation. Let me explain in simple easy to understand terms: if it changes gears *automatically*, then it's an AUTOMATIC transmission. It doesn't matter what the architecture of the design is. An auto should perform correctly in any situation without the user needing to know the underlying technology.
To the OP - check out my miserable experiences with two of these POS DCT transmissions and take my advice - get a stick or get something other than a Focus/Fiesta.
