it's personal preference. I have driven my 2014 Focus with the auto trans for 3 years now with no issues at all. Test drive the car and if you like it then get it. if you like the manual better than get that.

My dct is fine but it is different. When I brought the car the dct was hell. I don't know how long this is going to last but I haven't felt a shudder in a long time. Based off my initial experience I can't recommend a dct focus because it was hell when I got the car at 15,k

If you are happy with a manual by all means find and buy one. They are great cars with a rock solid transmission. Fortunately for buyers, unfortunately for some owners, the manuals have been hit with the same devaluation as the DCT's.

But in all the focus is a good car? When I actually stared looking for a car I was going to get a Subaru 2.5 Impreza. But those are a little out of my price range lol, but all of you guys and or gals think that the focus is a good car still even with that hiccup?

Let me explain in simple easy to understand terms: if it changes gears *automatically*, then it's an AUTOMATIC transmission. It doesn't matter what the architecture of the design is. An auto should perform correctly in any situation without the user needing to know the underlying technology.
To the OP - check out my miserable experiences with two of these POS DCT transmissions and take my advice - get a stick or get something other than a Focus/Fiesta.
Clearly you understand not the differences between traditional torque converter and dry clutch plate transaxles (yes, they are transaxles, not transmissions which you apparently know not the difference of either).

I think they are a great car. Fantastic handling. Lots of small extras at a great price. Solid German design. Strong motor with great mileage.
I'd take one over a Subaru POS, every forester we have at work is down a quart of oil 3k after the oil is changed.
Only issue with mine is the way the center console sticks out against my legs. But I tolerate it as with a 36" inseam everything is designed for shorter people. The 2015+ models addressed it.
Look for a 2014+, I think they got most of the bugs worked out by then.

So the 2014+ should be fine? like I said I'll be test driving it before I get it for sure! I'm currently driving a lifted 2007 f150 and gas is just horrible lol

Test drive the car and make up your mind.

You'll know straight away if you like it or not. Any trans issues should show. Try slow driving and fast driving.
Take it around roundabouts because it's a mix off braking, turning, and accelerating again all at low speed.
Reversing slowly, how does it cope?
Hill start, does it feel comfortable and acceptable?

P.S Ford did a promotion here (AUS) a while ago where if you test drove the car before you bought it, they gave you $500 off.
