Dash Light Sensor trips back and forth

2016 Focus Titaniuim Hatchback. Basically, it's a brand new car.

Love it so far, but have noticed in the early morning commute that the CRT screen changes from night to day mode depending on whether the car is creating it's own shadow.

So here's the scenario.
Assuming that the light sensor is at the very front center of the dash panel, where it meets the lower part of the inside windshield.

I drive west to work and this time of the year, as the sun rises, the car creates its own shadow. I've noticed that if the shadow is covering the sensor, the CRT screen switches to night mode.

As soon as I change direction, and the shadow doesn't cover the sensor, the CRT screen changes back to daytime mode.

Is there a sensitivity/delay setting somewhere to make it less sensitive? At least for the hour or so I'm in the car, with bright sunshine, this happens.

well, there should be an option to set the brightness to manual.. either for the lcd on the stereo only, or for all the lights on the dash...
