CROSS POST - Headlight Sensor Sensitivity

I'm cross posting this here as the ST forum isn't all that active, but I'm sure what I'm talking about would translate to all the MK3.5s.

Does anybody find the sensor to be too sensitive? I've noticed my headlights come on at times when they would have never even thought about it on my 2012 SE. This morning they came on when I started the car. The car was in the shadow of my house facing away from the sun, but it was still quite bright out.

I'm referring more to the 2016 models. And I know I'm not the only one here with a 2016. How about some input here, 2016 owners?

I agree. There are times in my 2015 that the lights turn on just from going under an overpass immediately or whenever I'm in some shade. It's definitely weird because when it's crazy raining and it's all dark the lights fail to turn on.

Mine is quite the opposite, mines not sensitive enough...My 2016 focus seems to come on only when its very dark, I usually have to manually turn them on, on a dark/ rainy day even with rain lights enabled.

In this situation you can mess with the headlight delay. Its located in the screen with your speedometer and stuff, go into settings and you should be able to mess with the light delay so they wont go on under an overpass or in the shade right away. Mines set to like 20 sec so I don't have a problem with them immediately going on when under an overpass.

I thought that was just for them turning off after you shut off the vehicle. I always had my 2012 set to "Manual" so they'd shut off with the vehicle. I have the ST set the same way.

hmmm good point, Ill have to check if its for when u turn off the vehicle or not. I've always assumed that's the delay for when you run into different conditions like under an overpass so your lights don't go on and off all the time...I'll have to check that out.

You can kill the lights when on Automatic, just pull the beam stalk (like you would do a high beam flash) they will turn off instantly when car is off.
