2014 Titanium mileage

I had a 2014 Titanium hatch with handling package. Ever since I have the car brand new I remember it always has a 22 max mpg combined. This week my car is back at the dealer for clutch related issue and they loan me a 2015 SE sedan. I see from the odometer that it has a 30 mpg combined. Why is there a big difference? Is there something wrong with my car? I do drive 80-85% in the city. I doubt that renter will be easy on their foot in a rental car.

City kills mileage. I average 33 but drive 50 miles round trip to work and maybe once or twice a week to the store or something.

It shouldn't be THAT low. When I'm at school, I drive mostly city and I usually average 28/29. And I'm not the easiest on the accelerator either.

All depends on the use.

OP is from San Francisco, and we've had people from there before with unusual brake wear and high or low MPG depending on use.

Run up & down the hills for short trips and it'll stink - run down the ridge to San Jose & back when traffic is light and it'll do great.

Yea, but still I couldn't imagine it will sink that low. They replaced the clutch one time before and reprogrammed the TCM and afterward I get 22-23 mpg. Before that I will only get 19-20.

My college town is fairly hilly (not to the degree of San Fran) and I still get decent mpgs. Something really seems off.

that just is no what you should be getting. Something is likely wrong. I live out in the suburbs and do most highway and side roads and I average 31 mpg

max - you haven't described your normal driving patterns, so no guess is really meaningful.

guy - how can you compare "most highway & side roads" living in the suburbs with a City driving example? Unless max commutes down the ridge line out of the city for miles, his MPG is likely among the worst in the country.

I do drive quite often in the City with a lot of stop and go traffic. For comparison I have a V6 passat before and I average about 15-16 mpg on that car.
