sony sub upgrade question for 2015 SE

I have a 2015 SE and the speakers arent the greatest. I was wondering if i took the sony sub out of a focus (possibly found one in a ST i could get) that has it, would it be a direct fit in my trunk and how easy/hard would this be. Also since i have no idea, is there a amp somewhere in the car for that sub that i'm going to have to take out as well.

Thank you in advance!

The right hand plastic trim in the trunk is different with the subwoofer, so you may need to get that part as well to make it look OE. The amp is in the spare tire area.

Okay because there's a focus that's been wrecked and has the sub and box so I was just wondering if that piece is a direct fit on on the right hand side. Mine is carpet in the trunk not plastic

As long as you have the same body style (sedan or hatchback) I think it would be a direct fit. However, if you have a full size spare that may interfere.

Also, OP, just adding the sub and amp, Im not sure how much improvement you'll get since you still have the factory door speakers and standard stereo. They sony system has the MFT lcd screen, four 6.5" speakers (one in each door), tweeters in each door, the speaker in the middle of the dash, the sub, and the amp

and even with all of that it doesnt sound fantastic, but thats because it is limited by the weak ass amp they put in. My f150 with a basic stereo was louder than our cars with the full sony system

my MFT has no real issues. Only thing I notice is that when I turn the car on and have been listening to music, it will pause for a fraction of a second after like 3 minutes, happens every time, but its not something that really bugs me and It has not had any other issues besides this.

As for the quality overall of the Sony system, I personally think its great. Now Im sure a majority of other cars with "premium" sound have a better and more powerful system than we do, but unless you like to literally blast your music, you will be satisfied with this system. It sounds nice, clean, crisp, decent enough bass (it is on the lower end being an 8" sub and all, but I feel most average drivers will be plenty pleased with this sub, unless you need lots and lots of bass which drowns out the music)

While I was happy with the 6.5's, I read a thread recommending a simply upgrade to Infinity reference speakers with angled tweeters on them. So I bought 4 of them (1 for each door) for $110. I am not good at all doing mods myself, so I had a shop install these and add polyfill to the sub enclosure for a bit better sound for $100. So total cost was $210 to upgrade my system which was pretty decent to begin with.

I did like how it made my music a bit louder, more clear, and clean sounding. It can get very loud at even half volume, where before with the Sony 6.5's, I would need to get closer to 3/4 or higher in volume to get the loudness I wanted.

I feel when it comes to stereos, everyone has their own unique tastes and what they like. This is how I got mine set up and I couldn't be more pleased

I believe that Ford upped the wattage on the 2015-2016 Sony system.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
