Not in CA but I've switched a few times to save $$. I had been with AIG then went to Geico to save $. I then got a better offer for the same coverage from Ameriprise via Ford Motor Credit so I went with them. I then got an even better rate from Liberty Mutual for the same coverage with but lowered my deductible to $100. I get the BJ's wholesale club discount through Liberty Mutual. I did look around last year but could not find a better rate for me here in Delaware.

What do you want for insurance? Full coverage or just liability?

21 and in SoCal, You can drop your coverage to state mins, but if you get in any kind of accident even a minor fender bender you'll be screwed even worse. Skimping on coverage for a lower rate is not a good idea.

You have to do the footwork on this yourself, insurance rates vary by zip code, so someone that is 21 drives the same car and lives 3 towns over that also has the same ins. company will pay a different rate than you. Call around and get quotes, heck you can even do most of that online.

Also idk about Cali but in NY we can take a defensive driving course which knocks off 10% from our insurance for 3 years. Cali might have something similar.

I'm 24, live in Nebraska, and I pay $235 a month for both my Ford vehicles. I have a 15 Focus SE and a 14 Escape Titanium. I insure with Allied, which is a smaller branch of Progressive. That price is with $1,000 deductibles on both vehicles.
