Finally signed the lease for the 2016 Titanium hatchback. Sync 3 (without navigation) is a HUGE improvement over its never to be named again predecessor.

Sony 10 speaker system is also very good. I'm sure I could improve the sound with higher rated speakers, however, system has plenty of power, great base response, and its very easy to adjust via Sync 3.

When Carplay upgrade is finally released, I'll be able to use my iPhone's navigation on the main display.

All in all, the 2016 Titanium is a significant upgrade from my 2013 SE. Seats are much more comfortable, ride is definitely smoother and quieter, and engine response (6 speed automatic) is much better too.

Exterior color - Tectonic; medium soft ceramic interior. The tectonic color looks really good on this model. Also, includes a moonroof.
Keyless Access is amazing. The ability to lock or unlock doors by simply touching the door handle is one great feature.

After a few months listening to the 10 speaker sound system, I decided to upgrade the 6 " door speakers. Factory speakers sound quality was average. Hence, I purchased these Kicker speakers from Crutchfield. Will install early next week. I'll post back with results after installation.

You may be venturing onto a slippery slope to spending more $$ than you think !

While I do not have Sync 3, my '14 Ti came with the 10 speaker Sony system, and like you my first step was to replace the speakers. Went with Harmon Infinity's, also like you from Crutchfield.

The new speakers were definitely louder, but the more I listened, the more dissatisfied I became. What I am saying is that while the OE Ford cheapie speakers are what they are, to my ears they complemented the Sony amp better than the "upgraded" speakers. Saying it another way, to my ears the sound actually deteriorated with the Harmons.

While I cannot explain the electronics of it, from what others have written about on here, there are some wonky signals coming from that Sony amp. The cure for me was a new amp, and a signal processor. That made the system sing like never before.

I'm very interested in how your upgrade works out. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Don't know if the amp/processor algorithm is different in the 2016 models. I do know the power output is higher, i.e. now 390w. I'll post back after I install the speakers on Monday or Tuesday.

Can you elaborate on which amp/signal processor you got, and how the installation went, perhaps a quick tutorial...

Sync with 10 speaker Sony

I do not have the skill required for installation, but I can take pictures of the boxes that held the amplifier and signal processor:

And very nice pictures of the boxes, at that. That looks like some pretty impressive equipment.

Sync with 10 speaker Sony

Thanks, my brother.

As I said to the OP above, this one project of replacing the front door speakers put me on the infamous "slippery slope". Unfortunately for my wallet, I did recognize the slope, nor it's trajectory.

Fortunately for my ears I kept the Infinity speakers in the rear, and replaced the fronts.

All four doors Dynomatted.

And honestly, I could not be happier with the sound. Time after time when I arrive at my destination, I'll park and just sit and continue to listen to the music for awhile, 'cause it's that good.

Installed the 6 3/4 Kicker speakers in the door panels. Initially, install was a bit challenging as Ford has made some changes to the door framework in the 2016 model. Tech people at Crutchfield were very helpful when I needed clarification about the factory wiring setup, as well as modifying the speaker brackets supplied by Crutchfield.

Very pleased with the results. Much better sound imaging. Also, sound is brighter and more vivid with no distortion. Very glad I upgraded the 4 door speakers in the 10-speaker Sony system at a rather nominal cost ($150).

Last piece is Carplay. Ford has pushed its release to the Autumn from its initial "summer release". No idea why. The Carplay upgrade will require the dealer installing additional hardware (not specified). Given Carplay is now available in the early 2017 models, don't understand why the delay for the 2016 models. Here, Ford could do a lot better keeping customers in the loop about the reasons for the delay.

Just purchased a 2016 Magnetic color Titanium

Hi,
I read this thread and wanted to say it's very informative. I have the 10 speaker system. Listening to Electronic dance music most of the time, I find that the center speaker needs a volume control on it. I have the bass and treble all the way up. I have peaked the volume and wish it went up to 11. There is plenty of bass. I thought I would need a separate subwoofer, but realized I dont. It sounds great. What I did notice is that the door tweeters should be replaced. There is no clear treble . It is a midrange system for the average user. If you like to hear clear crisp hi's you wont hear them on the stock system. If the front door speakers are woofers only tied to separate door tweeters at the top, and you replace them with Infinity Reference X REF-6502ix
coaxial speakers, do you lose some of the bass that came from the door woofers? I only have 160 miles on the car, so I wont be doing any modifications for now....It's ok for a summer car, this summer. Next summer who knows.
