Engine oil life monitor

Bought a 2015 about a month ago.
I have figured out how to reset the engine oil monitor but do not see anywhere that gives a "percentage remaining".

Am I missing something?
If not, how much warning (mileage) do you get before it is time to change.
What, on average is the cycle life of the oil?
I always use synthetic if that matters.

IOLM is an algorithm based system. It does not actually sample the oil quality. It just keeps track of your driving habits. Under ideal conditions, the IOLM may not alert for 10k miles.

I always use synthetic if that matters.
The IOLM does not care about synthetic/dino so that is not part of the algorithm.

One problem with depending on the IOLM to alert you to change the oil is that you don't know that it was properly reset at the last oil change. Failure to reset it after an oil change or resetting it without changing the oil will skew the results. it is best to keep a maintenance log.

I've never heard of a percentage warning, when the oil change light comes on it simply means you've driven a certain amount since you last reset.
It's probably about 10k and it's probably "okay" to go 10k between change with synthetic in our engines but honestly I wouldn't go more than 7.5k without a change.
Keep in mind that the world won't end if you go past your preferred length for a change it won't kill your car, but it's best to change regularly and on time.

The Focus isn't very user-friendly on this front, but try running a "Vehicle Health Report". I think doing so will deliver a mostly-useless report that may include remaining oil life for recent Focuses. To do this, you have to set up an account on Ford's website, but it's not difficult and instructions are in the Owner's Manual.

I did an oil analysis with Blackstone Labs after doing my first change. They told me that everything looked good, there was enough additive remaining in the oil, and that I should drive 10k before I do my next oil change (and analysis).

I'll report back after driving 10k miles. I think I'm about 2k off, and I've already accumulated enough rewards to make my next oil change free, so I'll be putting that savings towards another Blackstone Labs analysis.

My honda had a percentage meter, it was great.
My nissan had only a manual reminder set by the user.
And now my ford, a message that shows up.

I have a C7 Corvette and it gives the percentage remaining after reset. I like it a lot.
I change the oil myself.
I keep a spread sheet of all my maintenance activities.
I keep all receipts.
I use a Brother Label Maker and place a sticker on the upper inside windshield with Date and Mileage of the oil change... always there to see.
I guess my complaint is this... If you are going to have an oil life monitoring system, I would like to know the status.

FWIW, I have a 2015 1.0 and just passed 10,000 miles and haven't seen the oil change message yet. Not sure when it will trigger. I won't use it anyway. I've changed the oil twice already and do changes based on miles (7,500 ish).

That's the difference between the focus and higher end models........LOL My wife's edge give %. I did add the reset procedure to my focus manual since it was nowhere in the text. Sometimes they need to take more time editing their products. Are we really heading to a world that does not need a manual that tells you things like that?
