take delivery of the '15 Ti or wait for '16?

placed an order at the dealer at the end of May for a loaded '15 Ti hatchback (navigation, MyFord Touch, technology package) shortly before the '16 order book came out. The car was scheduled to be built this week with an expected arrival date at the dealer at the end of August. They've given the option of either driving the '15 off the lot or place another order for the '16 but I'd have to decide when the '15 arrives. Apart from the Sync3 upgrade it looks like things are staying pretty much the same though I'd consider the EcoBoost on the 6-speed automatic now.

Looking at the order book, could I opt for the SE trim and add both the EcoBoost appearance package (67E) and the SE Luxury package (67A) or are they mutually exclusive? If that's available I might just opt for the SE trim and add 67E, 67A and 85C (navigation and Sony Sync3 package) though I'm sure that set of packages still lacks a couple of features available to the Titanium (push button and remote start, technology package [blind spot, lane-keeping alert, etc..]

I was also going with the medium soft ceramic leather seats in the '15 Ti which aren't available in the SE luxury package so that would be a consideration as well.

Looks like the big differences is the possible inclusion of the EcoBoost on the automatic transmission now and of course the upgrade to Sync3.

anyone else in a similar situation? would you wait for the '16?

I guess it all depends on how bad you need a new car but I would wait for Sync 3.

I'd wait just because of MyFord Touch. The current system probably won't get anymore software updates.

Sync 3 is worth the wait. QNX stomps all over Microsoft is so many ways.

I think it will also get/have Android Auto and Apple Car support. Android Auto looks awesome.

Those are essentially skins that mirror your phone. They still run on top of QNX aka BlackBerry. Seriously legit setup for any vehicle.

I hate the way the 2016 order guide packages are structured.

As far as I understand it, if you are getting the SE trim and you want Sync 3, you MUST take package 201A (SE Luxury Package). This package appears to be mutually exclusive from both the SE Sport package and SE Ecoboost Appearance package.

This means, for example, you cannot get the SE 1.0L Ecoboost engine together with Sync3. Even worse, if you do get the SE 1.0L Ecoboost and opt for the appearance package (67E), you're stuck with the slushbox auto. Maybe that's OK for some, but I think I would learn to appreciate the manual. We don't know if this auto trans will reap the same fuel economy benefits yet.

And I share your dilemma with the Medium soft ceramic leather. It looks much better than going black-on-black with some of the exterior colors (for example, I prefer the Blue Candy with lighter interior colors). Alas, 2016 Manual Titaniums will be impossible to come by, and there's no way I'm getting a dry DCT. Was that medium soft ceramic manual shifter boot too hard to produce?

Its not like AA and CP are a straight mirror, its a new interface specifically made for a car and full access to all the services you use all day long.

Sync 3 looks way better then the old MFT but I think Android Auto looks better. Either way the 2016 would be the way to go.

yeah, I was a bit confused on the order book options as well. I do think you're correct though that the EcoBoost means no Sync3/appearance package on the SE. and given that I was going with the Blue Candy and medium soft ceramic leather interior I may just go with the '16 and forego the EcoBoost package that I wasn't getting on my '15 Ti to begin with. would have been nice to have and made the decision to wait even easier but I think the Sync3 alone might be enough to wait for.

I know there's been a good amount of discussion/rumors on what the DCT may actually be in the '16 Focus but I think it'll be the same for the non-EcoBoost automatics that will carry over from '15 if I'm reading things correctly?

If the information in another thread about 2016 powertrain choices is correct, absolutely wait for the 2016s unless you want to be stuck with an orphaned engine/transmission combination.
