Finally over 600 miles in a tank

I've been close a couple times before but this time I finally had a tank of more than 600 miles, 608 miles to be exact. Pump clicked off at 11.7 gallons, but I usually add about 0.4 gallon so the total was 12.1 gallon for a net of just over 50.1mpg. Dash reading was 50.4mpg.

I've been at Yellowstone National Park and the max speed limit in the park is 45mph. The park is still not fully open and there isn't the crowds like there will be in a couple more weeks so I cruised at 45mph most of the tank. There is some stop and go with folks stopping in the middle of the road to check out the wildlife, and there were down hill sections were I let it coast up above 50mph.

I suspect that if you could drive a closed course track with no need to brake and set the cruise at 45mph it might be posible to make 700 miles per tank and near 60mpg.

ive found this car does like the 45 mph range.. They are doing some road work on the highway portion of my commute to work, so my entire drive is around 45 and 50 mph now (vs 65 on the highway and 45 on country road). Ive went from 30 mpg to 35 in the month they have been doing construction.

Actually, the typical crusing speed I used was more like 40mph, not sure how it came out 45mph.

I don't think I'd have wanted to drive an entire tank at 40mph were it not for the 45mph speed limit and the great scenery. And this was over 4 days so...

The previous tank, which was my drive up from SLC plus a day at YNP came in at 45mpg so my average on this trip is over 47.5mpg.

This car gets just about the same milage as my 2004 Honda VFR800 Interceptor, though no where near as fast. I've had the VFR beyond 150mph though I wont say where!

On a road trip last year I drove from about the center of Nebraska with a full tank and had the cruise set at 79 and never touched the brakes (literally as it was in the wee am hours) til I hit very SW Denver and was a 1/4 mile from my house and I averaged 38.4.
I like speed too much to set any records.

Around town with less than a mile commute (67% of trips are with a cold engine per computer reading) I do still get a dash indicated 26.5 but hand calculated I've been averaging about 28 in the city.
