Steering wheel "plate" loose...anyone else?

Hey Everyone,
After having my car for about two years now....I had one of those "I've never noticed this before" moments. The center console/plate (or whatever you call it) of the steering wheel where all the controls/horn-pad are located, seems to have come loose. I can wiggle it up/down/right/left with my thumbs if my hands are at 9 and 3 o'clock position. I'm talking about the silver plate right on the wheel itself that the left and right directional pads are mounted to.

I mentioned it to my service rep the other day when I took it in for a new clutch and told him he can take a look next month at the scheduled service, he wanted to track down another Focus and see it was the same, but he said it did seem odd.

Anyone else notice this happening to their Focus (or maybe just Titanium models)?

Thanks!

Hi there, roywperry!

Let me help! What's the current odometer reading on your Focus? Send that over, along with your preferred dealer and appointment details; I'll see how to help get the wiggle out.

Thanks Nikki,
My dealer is Desjardin Ford and they've been spectacular at handling any issues I've had. I'm confident when it goes in for scheduled service later this month, they'll address the minor issue of this loose plate.

Seems a little overkill to get Ford Canada involved at this point, but I'll put out another shout to you guys for a great job assisting with getting my dealer (and me) my new clutch!

I'd highly recommend them. I haven't dealt with other Ford dealerships but I have zero complaints with Desjardin Ford, they always do great work and never question anything.

I should add...I also have the full extended warranty on my car and bought the car from them...maybe I get special treatment or something. :-)

I take that back...one complaint. LOL Their service orders are only available in French. Oh well...it's a Quebec thing.

Fair enough. Let me know how it all progresses, and don't hesitate to reach out if anything comes up in the meantime.

Have a great Easter weekend!

I don't know too much about wiggling steering wheel trim, but there is a thread where the alignment of that piece was off significantly:

I've been there twice and I wouldn't recommend this dealer. I won't name anyone in public but the person at the front who served me is extremely rude and when you ask him question (details about what and why), he doesn't have clue and hate that so he gets angry and give ou a too simple answer. Just my 2 cents... I am now going to circuit and they have been

If you are on the Southshore, Boisvert is also excellent.

Are you sure about that? The guy I used to see spoke french and english (some kind of frenglish, but good enough).

They all speak EN, but the work orders are always filled out in FR (what work was done, etc.).

I'm surprised by Squad's experience. Like I said...maybe they treat me differently since I bought from them. I did notice they had a bit of turnover in the service department a year back. Maybe the sour apples fell from the tree.

Ahh, sorry, misunderstood. I haven't bought the car there, I bought it at Boisvert on the southshore but it's too far away from my house (not really, but with traffic... I live in Anjou). I work in St-Laurent, I said I'll go there but didn't get good service so now I go to the dealer near my house (Circuit) and it's all good. BTW: Avoid Fortier, they are the wrost of the wrost... I know two people who bought their car there and apparently it's like the wrost you can have as a service.

It's sad because I have a GM car and I've been going to the same dealer in Repentigny since 6-7 years and it's top notch. It's sad that I can't do the same with my Ford.
