Ford Focus MK3, "something loose" sound on front right shockbreaker

Hi all,

I just bought a Ford Focus Ti-VCT GDI I-4 2.0L at Jakarta, Indonesia and have used it just under a week. I noticed on the 3rd day that there is a sound as if something is loose and i can notice it clearly when driving on a paving block surface (uniform small bumps) when there shouldn't actually be any knocking sort of sound at all. It seems to be coming from the front right shockbreaker.

I got the car in the service center today and they said that there is a "small ball bearing" or something like that missing on the "support shockbreaker" as explained by the mechanic (i don't know much about car mechanical work so that's all i remember from the explanation). I asked how does a brand new car have missing parts, and the service support supervisor said that they've been having several new Ford cars coming in to service with missing (small) parts. They assume that there is a problem with the quality check at the assembly factory. I think that all Ford vehicles for Indonesia comes from the Thailand factory.

If this is true, I am very disappointed with the quality check and the assembling division of Ford factory at Thailand. This can be very dangerous for new owners and this issue should actually be a very big issue since it has a big potential for accidents if the missing part(s) were a critical part when used at high speeds.

The mechanic said that this kind of issue is not limited to Ford Focus but also to new Ford Fiesta

If there is someone with a similar issue or with influence to check regarding this issue, please do make an inquiry. How and what I complain to my Ford dealership is so limited and they will probably forget about my complaint once they have installed the missing part since for their concern, they might think that this is an issue with the Ford factory at Thailand, not the dealership.

While it is always possible that you have a missing part, it is far more likely that your issue involves one or both of these Technical Service Bulletins:

Bump Stops:
TSB 13-12-09
https://www.google.com/url?q=http://...N5_HLJI57dPOTg

Strut Bearings
TSB 13-5-11

Please note that these TSBs may vary based on your country.

Thank you for relocating this thread to the correct folder.

And thank you for the info regarding the TSB. I hope the dealer finishes the service of my car today, I'll make sure to ask the mechanics regarding the TSB.

I still have the problems. I've gone to 2 Ford service dealers, the last one said that they've tried applying the 2 TSB with the same noise result. I'm thinking that this noise might come from something in the dashboard or from something loose above the wheel/shockbreakers.
