Its offensive that Ford tries to explain away the deficiencies in their dry clutch design. You SHOULD NOT have to drive the car differently to make it behave.. a manual transmission clutch DOES NOT SHUDDER like the dct does when driven the same way..

My wife drives ours and she drives aggressively enough that she doesn't complain about it. When I drive it, the damn thing shudders when I accelerate REASONABLY from a stop light or sign.. I DONT WANT TO MASH THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR when I start out..

Our clutch pack has been replaced at around 30k... I'm not confidant that it won't need another in several thousand more.. We keep our cars for the duration and crap like this really is annoying... Thanks for listening :/

We don't get that kind of miles every year. What are you doing, commuting to Chicago?

I used to commute to Kenosha and visit my family often in Chicago. I work in MKE now - I can't emphasize enough how that change improved my quality of life. Only problem now is that my commute* is 100% city with this shuddering transmission.

*If I drive.

Well, I'm getting a second clutch replacement after about 10,000 miles on a 2014 Focus. The first clutch lasted about 10,000 miles. Oh, the water pump is leaking. They are replacing that, too.

That's about how long ours lasted...

We just returned from a 700 mi round trip and during the trip, all was good. Each way, when the trans was thoroughly warmed up, It bucked and shuddered with the 'rocks in a can' rattle and rpm surging really bad. I'm not looking forward to the hassle of going through this again. Whats the latest on the clutch replacement? Is there another, superseded p/n that is any better?

The clutch p/n is F1FZ-7B546-B as listed on the workorder. I asked the service rep if they last more than 10k miles now. He was frustrated about the DTC and didn't have an answer.

Don't wait too long to get it fixed. Mine went out on the highway and would not shift. Had to get it towed. Ford Quality right there.

Just got notice that ours needed a new clutch pack and is ready to be picked up. When I said that I hope this one lasts longer than the previous replacement, she only said they've been updated a couple times... I have my doubts..

Not an owner, but my sister is looking at getting a new car, I feel hesitant to suggest a mk3 focus because of the DCT issues i've been reading about.

i don't feel like reading through 43 pages, but has ford "fixed" the powershift trans? as in, will buying a 2016 model have a reliable DCT?

Just because it hasnt been said lately I have a custom tune I sell that helps the DCT and how it works a LOT , I have cured a lot of shudder issues and it makes the over all driveability of your Focus a lot better

I rented a couple of 2016 Focus's last summer in Texas. They both had more than 15K miles on them and they performed well.
