Front parking light replacement

Hey, has anyone tried to replace the small parking light bulb in the upper outside corner of the front headlight housings? Pulling the housing & the rubber cap for the bulb socket is way easy, but the socket is buried deep inside the housing. Does this require a special Ford tool for a $3.00 bulb?

It shouldn't no, if you use the search function you should find a general information lighting thread with all the how to's.

it's definitely a Pain in the butt to take that little bulb out. Some people have used a hanger, some have used needle nosed pliers, and some have just squeezed their hand in there. I did a combination of using my hand and pliers. Make sure you plug the headlight harness back in before you tighten everything back up to make sure the bulb is working. Sometimes the new bulb doesn't sit perfectly in the housing and can come loose while trying to reinstall......Good luck

FWIW, here's something I stumbled upon in replacing my bulb: A 5/16" open end wrench (that's roughly a 8mm spanner for those of you in the other hemisphere) sat nicely on the back of the bulb socket, which made it easy to rotate it. It only needs to rotate about 1/8 of a turn to unfasten.

Good luck to all the other fat fingered folks attempting this.

you can reach the bulb easier if you reach through the low bean bulb area. hope that helps

I changed both bulb with LED (red). Here's how I did:
- remove the headlight
- use a very long flat screwdriver
- remove the the rubber cover near the bulb and the one for the bulb
- push against the plastic lock with the screwdriver and twist
- pull the socket outside of the housing using your hands - it'll barely get out of the housing
- change the light
- connect the housing to the car and make sure the light is working (unlock your door with your remote controller)
- put back the socket where it was in the housing and use the screwdriver and reverse-twist to lock it back in place
- put back both rubber in place
- put back the headlight on the car
- done

Good luck.

By the way, pay attention to not break the connector that attach to the headlight - be gentle but firm.
