Any other user experience?

yeah? Nah? No difference?

Would like to post this in my local Focus forum but would like to see more feedback before doing so.

My own car, a turbo diesel, does not have these pipes at all --I guess the engine is sucking in all hot air (which should be good for all engines in general and diesel in particular? Sorry, I am not an engineer and not a mechanic so the knowledge in this area is limited). But we do have 1.6l and 2.0l petro engines locally.

Here is the message that has just been posted:

It's been a while since I posted. But I watch this thread constantly, looking for info "just in case". I went to my dealership today for routine maintenance, and like always, I asked about the transmission issues they've seen. I let them know that on this site, I had seen that some have received "new & improved transmission replacements". My rep told me that, yes there is a revised trans, with a re-designed clutch assembly, that Ford has available, for the replacement of defective trannys. Mine, "KNOCK ON WOOD!!!" is still flawless at 32,000 miles. But I do have the extended 100k warranty, which he said if mine does start to act up, they would probably implement the replacement tranny. I am now FULLY CONFIDENT, that Ford is on top of this, and I know longer have a feeling of dread. But to those of you who are having the serious issues, look for dealerships that really care. If you are in the Virginia area, go to Williamsburg Ford THEY ROCK!

Not a break through and not anything that had not already been posted by others. Yet at least one fellow that already received the "new"transmission is already having problems.

I sealed the gap last week with a clear silicone caulking and now I'm a true believer. It no longer stutters and has a much smoother acceleration from a stop.

this fix makes a ton of sense, cars the world over are using cold air intakes to improve performance, so a gap in the engine bay can't be good

I took the rubber all the way off mine both before the dyno (35-40 miles) dynoed it on and off then drove it another 50-60 miles more with it all the way off , No change in performance on or off the dyno or driving with it on or off

Im not sure why some think this helps as there is nothing that this would change at all in the electronics or what the ECU sees , the intake air temps only changed by .5 to 2 deg with it all the way off ????????

But like Smokey says if it makes you feel better then do it

I did this and have seen no difference in how the car behaves but I didn't really have much problem with surge and controlled what there was with the pedal. It can't hurt a thing so if it helps someone it's all to the good.
