I purchased an Ultra-Gauge for half the price of the Scangauge and it does everything I need or want it to do. Among other things, the best thing it did for me is improve my mpg's by showing when and how easy it was to activate the ADFSO.

Not sure about with the ultra gauge or scan gauge as the display has to run to the dashboard, but if you need to try and close the door you can unclip the OBDII cable from the holder, slide it back and close the door.

Sorry I meant if I install it on the dash and run the cable down the pillar, insert the plug into the OBD socket I would like to close the OBD cover while it is plugged in or does the cover get in the way? Basically, i do not want to keep unplugging the darn thing. How is the device powered, OBD connection?

Yes it does. I purchased the windshield mount because there was no where I could get the mount that comes with the unit to stick. I ran the wire between the dash and the A pillar, down the side of the dash through the cover handle and into the ODB box. I didn't realize the cover had popped open when I took the pic, I rearranged the wire and it all fits fine.

I just got my 2012 SE hatch and installed my ultragauge into the car. Super easy, don't run it outside the dash though, pull out the trim and pop out the side panel and run everything behind the dash.

I personally popped out the plug from the socket and tucked it behind the dash and closed the door.
