Maybe the Focus is a new breed of disposable car? I am surprised they took it back over an infotainment issue, hopefully the C-Max treats you better.

I think once a car starts costing Ford more in warranty costs than it's worth, they do this. Labor isn't cheap.

C-Max Energi still has MFT, so are you still concerned? I am having no MFT issues, only DCT. I would not ever accept a trade or switch for another DCT equipped car.

I have not read too many complaints about the C-Max only the fuel economy class action lawsuit, the car is of course relatively new so give it time. It was my first choice for a car, but opted for the Focus based on the overall MPG, Energi was out of my price range. Cool though if you can go 20+ miles on battery alone.
I didn't have any DCT issues, except sometimes a jump when accelerating quickly - which was mostly resolved by a firmware update. To be fair, the Focus was my first car, so I don't have much of a basis to compare to other automatics (as the C-max is CVT).

I briefly summarized my issues - there is certainly more to the story than I've stated. Whenever the system crashed in the middle of driving for example, I had to start reverting to my cell phone for directions - a bit dangerous - and I made sure to mention that to Ford customer relations. (I moved to a new area, and the Focus was purchased for that reason). When the system froze, there was nothing short of pulling the fuse to get it to reboot even. After 2 years, there was a slim probability of being able to drive from point A to point B without route guidance failing for some reason. On the 5th visit, the dealership service manager came with me to the car to make sure the problem was fixed...and the screen was mis-calibrated such that you had to press on the opposite corner to get to the correct option - and the directions failed on the first try in front of the manager. That pretty much led to the resolution for a replacement. I could go on with more detail, but I think you get the gist.

I'm not as concerned about MFT on the C-max - because I have experience and know what's normal and what's not. It's also been 2 years since the Focus came out, and they have made a lot of stability improvements - I'm surprised the Focus was released as it was. I have real navigation on the C-max, so that resolves the finger pointing at Sync which took up a lot of time, and so far it has been fine.

As for MPG, I couldn't justify the C-max over the Focus if I had gotten the hybrid version. With the Energi, I'm managing 25 miles or so on battery in good weather, which covers my day-to-day commute and even most of my weekend travel. I'll only use gas for road trips. My fuel economy since leaving the dealership two weeks ago is over 300 MPG. Yes, this is skewing it since it includes electricity use, but I get free charging at work - so that is really the MPG out of my pocket, and justification for the investment for the Energi versus getting another Focus.
