DCT Chip?

I'm curious if anyone has heard anything about any potential chipping for the 6sp DCT on these guys. Coming from the B5 Audi community where there were a few "Tip chips", Tip being the term for the Tiptronic automatic tranny, seems like a DCT chip would be a no brainer. I've noticed with my Focus that the shifts are very slow and really quite surprising considering what I've always heard about DCT transmissions. But then there are also times when the DCT shines through with some of the quickest, most crisp shifts I've ever felt, so I know that there has to be the potential for someone to make those kind of shifts occur more often. Honestly, I would be much more inclined to spend $300 on a tune for my transmission if it means orgasmic shifts rather than an engine tune to give me another 10-15hp.

This would be nice. If it could improve the select shift as well, that would be a plus. I barely use the thing, because it takes 2 - 3 seconds to shift once I click the button. Miss my 5 speed.

I would rather drop out the boat anchor DCT and drop in a 6 speed MT. I do not plan on keeping my car as long as I originally planned so anything that will void the warranty is not going to happen.

One of the reasons I went for the Focus was the DCT. I do think that with some tuning that transmission can be extremely enjoyable to drive- immediate upshifts and downshifts, re-map some of the shift points, reduced gear hunting, allow a gear to hold without downshifting on WOT, maybe even further smooth the jerkiness at lower speeds, etc..

You may have a point, the more I think about it Ford might have something in the software to make these cars meet higher MPG ratings by fooling with the DCT. I already know that if I drive it in Drive Mode it sucks in city traffic, but in SelectShift around town and etc, it's improved but my MPG goes way down. Maybe a silent ECO mode, with no option to turn off is more like it?

I don't think blazing fast shifts are ever going to happen with this generation DCT as I'm convinced the hardware (actuators) are not fast enough. I'm not saying there's no room for improvement, but I just don't think the design and components are really up to the task. They wanted a cheap DCT and Gertag gave them one.

Supposedly based on what I read, the Fiat C635 DDCT used in the Dodge Dart which is used in the Alfa Romeo in Europe has a 6ms shift time between gears. Still though even most reviews on Alfa Romeo equipped with the DCT say, get a manual.

There is nothing yet. Search is your friend.

Here. And Here. General mod info here.

There are a ton of threads about this. There are also about a million threads regarding shifting issues with the DCT.
