opening door = ratchet noise under hood

Wife has a new 2013 Ford Focus Hatch SE - auto -

Have noticed that after the car sits for awhile, like in the garage, and you open any door, there is a ratchet/loading/priming sound under the hood ?

Since it sounds more mechanical,
sorta like a pump shotgun chambering a new round :)
was wondering what it might be ?

The so called click... click.... whirr nose has been discussed a lot, it's been considered a normal noise where the clutches are being prepared for the next engine start. Why it can go for 3 minute cycles is beyond me, but Ford issued a statement that it was normal.

I have a 2012 manual fiesta, and my dad has an 2013 auto fiesta. Im pretty sure the sound I hear in both the fiestas is the same as the new focus that you have described. Dont believe it has anything to do with the clutch but actually the relays.

I suggest using the search feature on the forum as well as exploring other parts of the forum. You may find more useful answers in different sections as well as places where more people will look and be able to better answer your questions.
