As far as I know the only way to change it is to open them and change the projector lense

According to retro solutions most oem projectors have cloudy projectors to soften the cutoff. When you go with their retrofit kits they have clear lenses that boost output and sharpen the cutoff. I believe thats how it works someone correct me if im wrong. Thats one of the benifits of doing it yourself you know exactly what components are going into the housing........ and if theres a thumbprint in there after assembly theres nobody to be mad at but yourself lol.

They are tempting, but I have been burned before so I am hesitant to gamble as well. I would rather get the Real McCoy and not have to worry about issues with safety.

Or you can just use Halogen bulbs, you do not have to worry about ballast anymore and they still look great!
