Hood release handle question

I opened my hood for the 2nd time today, upon grabbing the handle to release the latch (one in the footwell of the car), the handle pulled right off, I noticed there is no retaining feature designed into the handle or it failed?

Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe grab your handle next time and see if it just pulls right off with minimal force. I can pop it back on, but there isn't much holding it.

I suppose the Gremlins are at work here, 3 weeks into this and things are starting to fail already.

I've popped my hood a few times, but the lever hasn't ever acted like it would come lose. That being said, I usually open the hood while standing outside the car, so when I pull the lever I'm also pulling it toward the wall it's mounted on.

That's what I did, I was standing outside the car, pulled the handle, the hood released and the handle flew right off into the foot well. It's just slips on and off with minimal force, looks like it could vibrate or just fall off over a bump and cause safety issues flopping around the pedal area.

I am sure they are all prone to this, I am going to pull on a couple at the dealership when I go in next time to see if it's just mine.

That happened to me once months ago. I jut put the handle back on and haven't thought about it again. I do open the hood to check the fluids about over other weekend or so.
