Look at the Philips DRL's, they are plug and play, no wire tapping.

Do you mean these?

Looks like it would be more work and require some mods to the existing panels.

Yeah those are the ones. Trust me u dont want to install wire tapping garbage. The install takes a while if u use that exact spot on the car. If u place them just under the hood lid it will take 5minutes to install

I see a 4 and 8 Daylight listed, in the US they have this one: Which looks similar to BMW Angel Eyes but it's $200+

I played around a bit and settled on the position that was the most work, but it was worth the effort imho

Philips are good quality, not arguing that. Did you cut slots or just do an exterior install? I watched the install video and looked over the instructions.

Any issues with bulb warnings after install?

I cut the slots. There is no bulb error on the dash as this doesnt plug into any existing wiring, it goes directly to the battery. The philips set has a built in module which switches them on and off when the car is switched on and off, very cool

You can google a Philips Daylight 4 rebate for $15.00 (or $25.00 for Daylight 8) that is good until March 31, 2013. You need to buy from a retailer, but Amazon works. The price at Amazon today is $81.05 before rebate.

In the U.S. the instructions call for tapping into a wire that is hot when the lights are on (like the parking lights) so that the module will know that the headlights are on.

Hmmm..I am debating but hesitant these Philips will not detract too much from the OEM look, it appears they are flat and not contoured to match the profile of the fascia? I do like the wire connections though.

Does anyone have any close-up shots?

Has anyone priced replacement panels in (Piano Black) if your not happy with the look after modifying?
