The manufacturer will if they evenly wear prematurely (based on the mileage warranty) and you have your documentation of your rotations being done properly. It's prorated based on miles. I've done my time as a tire monkey in the shop and behind the counter.

Hey guys. You're right about new cars most likely having a few filings in the pan but this is exactly what the oil filter takes care of. Any filings that are big enough to cause a problem would be filtered out. No need to worry about it. Just make sure you change it at the recommended intervals or earlier if you are paranoid.

also, don't drive upside down

OP - I get my oil changed twice a year. Once in the fall and once in the spring as recommended by my service department since I don't do enough mileage on the car. Since having bought my Focus end of July 2011, I average about 1000km a month.

I changed mine at exactly 10,000... just like the manual says to. If you are using a good filter and oil then doing it any more often than that is a waste of money and time.

Also, I rotate my tires every 5,000.

Man, that is almost overkill even for me. You could probably get away with once a year, since 6 months x 1000KM = 3726 miles
