Stock tpms sensors in older Ford wheels?

I tried posting this in the wheels and suspension forum but got no hits (maybe I am too impatient). Will the TPMS sensors from my 2012 Focus wheel work with used wheels from an older Taurus or a Windstar (1997-2003)? Has anyone actually done this?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Generally you aren't supposed to ask the same question in multiple locations.

I don't know if anyone has tried it, but given that the 2012 Focus uses the valve stem sensor it should work as long as it fits inside the valve stem hole, however if not then you would need to get the older band style sensors and clamp it to the wheel itself afaik.

Yes all valve stem hole are equal, except for some trailer wheels and some older truck wheels

They will work. I have 2003 Taurus wheels on my 2012 Focus for my snow tires. I ordered a set of factory TPMS of ebay for them.

The only problem I had was one of the wheels needed to be hit with a wire wheel on the inside lip to get the tire to seat properly. The dealer told me someone at one point used fix-a flat in on a tire on that wheel and didn't clean it properly.

Thanks for all your responses. I now think it is worth a try if I can get some cheap, good-looking wheels.

I will be more careful about double-posting in the future.

Pretty sure those Windstar's use band type sensors, and not valve stem type. Its either the band type or it just uses the wheel speeds to calculate rolling distance. You can try the sensors, but they will most likely not work.
