Still need to top off coolant regularly and the gunk I wiped off of the cap came back... I guess I should schedule a dealer visit since I'm at 56k miles, eh?

I also want to get the clutch issue looked at one last time and my suspension clunk complaint in writing - just in case I pass up 60k before they fix it.

EDIT: Nevermind on the clunk, since that wouldn't be covered in the 60k mile warranty anyway.

As far as I can guess, it's due to a pinhole (vapor) leak in my radiator. I'm going to have a hell of a time getting the dealer to find it, though.

I had gone and checked my car after reading one of these threads. There was some build up, but my coolant level was also closer to the min line. A month or so ago it had dropped below the min line so I picke dup some concentrate from the dealer and mixed it up to top the tank off. I filled it to the max line and it appears that the build up that I could see in the tank has disapeared.

So maybe it partly a function of the level being alittle low and the amount of air in the top of the tank?

Did anyone else also notice that when the cap is completely closed it clicks into place? I am not possitive that I had gotten it completely closed before. Wonder of that would have effected anything.

My radiator failed in under 20,000 miles. They replaced it and I haven't noticed an increase in the crud.

My coolant level was below the MIN mark. Told the mechanic when I took it in for an oil change last week. Did they top off the coolant? Nope. Yesterday I topped off the coolant myself and noticed the brown gunk built up on the bottom of my coolant tank cap. I could also see some of the brown stuff floating around in my coolant in the tank. Going to take it in and get a coolant flush. Mine has about 28k on the odometer.

Hope this isn't something like GM had with their Dexcool. Back in the 90's, GM had a lot of problems with their Dexcool creating lots of build up and clogging cooling systems. Don't know if they ever improved it.

My 2001 Chrysler Intrepid and 2006 Dodge Magnum had no problems with any build up in their coolants even though they were also organic based.
