Roof rack question
Hello, I'm looking to purchase a roof rack for my Focus HB. I'm not really looking for anything that required drilling. Just like something to use for clamp. If any of you guys purchased or know any affordable and good quality roof rack, can you post here a link? Your help would be thanks. Just like to do it for style. I'm also looking to get a 16" Sparco Terry either gray or white for my Focus.

What I found so far is a roof rack on ebay for $444 bucks plus shipping. I don't feel like spend that much on it. Other one is a cheapest that I found so far is Rhino rack 2500 for 303 bucks. If you found good and cheaper real without drilling, let me know. Unless you're selling used.

I've got the sparco terra's on white, they look friggin awesome on the focus, I'd I do say so myself! :)

And as far as racks, Sears makes their own brand (I think) that is a complete kit for 200 bucks. I pieced my Thule kit together for roughly 275. Got a majority of it off of Craigslist.

Don't mind share me the pix of your focus with that rims on? Been looking all over the Web and sick of looking at the tire rack. Lol... Thanks your your help. I'll looks up on Sears.

Here's the rack I have. I'm just steeling this quote from another thread so I don't have to track down the pics. I have to use a stretch kit (the bars running parallel with the car) with my three door but you won't need it for your five door. This unit is not cheap but you'll be very hard pressed to find a rack that doesn't require holes, is cheap, and looks half way decent (some cheaper ones use straps rather than clamps with look very cheap IMO)

Yakima Q-towers roof rack. It's not exactly cheap but it is an excellent rack but can be fully installed and removed within minutes without any holes in the car. There are also other good options for racks but I'll let other more knowledgeable with them mention them.

BTW the part above the windshield is called a fairing. They don't necessarily have to be the same as the rack brand (mine is not a Yakima fairing).

My rack is a Thule setup with the regular square bars. I got it at a local bike shop on the one weekend they run a Thule sale.

It goes on and comes off within minutes, no drilling, etc, and uses special rubber feet where it contacts the car so it won't scratch or damage the car.

I ended up buying new because Thule comes with a lifetime warranty (not sure if that transfers when you buy used). Total with bike mounts/etc came to ~400. No one in my area was selling the right feet for the Focus either. But if you get lucky and find a rack on Craigslist that fits the Focus, you can save a lot of money that way.

Also, one note: Yakima had a recall for their 2012/13 rack setup. I'm guessing they have fixed the problem by now, but if you buy used, make sure it's not the old setup that had problems (Which I think were only issues if you got in a crash).

I picked up the Rhino 2500 rack with Aerobars online from for $233.40 plus shipping after discounts. It's comparable quality to the Thule, and the Thule accessories fit the Rhino bars. I have a set of Thule ski/snowboard carriers mounted on mine.

I've had many Thule racks in the past (including OEM racks made by Thule), and these Rhinos are of equal quality for almost half the price. I'm very happy with them!

I found the following for 305.00. Did they up the price?

CeeBee 01-09-2013 04:01 PM

No, I think the price is the same. I ordered in late November and they were offering good discounts I could combine... I think one was a $ amount for signing up for their opt-in email marketing, and also a % off as part of a pre-Christmas promotion. Keep an eye out and/or sign up for their emails.

Even at $305.00 with free shipping in the US, it's less than what I ended up paying in total here in Canada, AND it's still better than what you'd pay for a Thule or Yakima rack.

The guys were great too... after I placed and paid for the order, they contacted me because the Rhino product was to be shipped straight to me from the US distributor, but found out that the US Rhino distributor won't drop ship to Canada. So had Rhino ship it to them and then they shipped it to me at no extra cost.

BTW, I am not affiliated with them – just please with the one transaction I've done so far.
