Decision - factory order or Sept 9 build

Hi all; first post here, but have been following for a while.

We have "bit the bullet"; need a second car and are replacing our 2004 ZTS (sold last August) with a new Titanium. Have a conundrum; there is one available out of town which will cost me $150.00 to have shipped in. Have a factory order in place, with an as yet undetermined delivery date. Build date for the existing car was Sept 9. Looking for insight; has much changed from early September until now, regarding MFT, tranny programming, etc, that would make me want to wait the unknown but possibly 4 to 8 weeks to get a fresh build VS the unsold but almost 2 month old existing car? Both are identical; Sterling grey hatch with all the goodies including handling pkg.

All input (except hostile) welcome.

I don't think anything has changed in two months. Last tranny update was in May/June (12B37 FSA) but that was applied to 2013 models from the start. Last MFT update was around that time *officially* but has since been pulled from the SMR page. So, if you have outside temp in the Sept 9 build youre on 3.2.2 if no temp then 3.0.2, both are roughly the same... 3.2.2 has mild improvements/fixes but nothing major, I'd imagine since it's a 2013 build the Climate Control issue won't be present.

If you don't want to wait, get the Sept 9 build... nothing should be different.

If set on the Sept. build then do the deal and why wait. Maybe they will let you pick it up either as a dealer trade of outright dealer buy by your local dealer. I picked my yellow blaze one up at a dealer about 80 miles away and used my local dealers loaner to actually go get it. Did the deal and same day was driving it home. Prepped and finally took delivery the next morning.

September 2012 build should be fine... that's not even "early." If it were a September 2011 build, I'd say run. Run as fast as you can.

EDIT: Yeah, what he \/ \/ \/ said >.<

You mean september 2011 build for the 2012 MY vs September 2012 build for 2013 MY right? As there is no cars built in September 2013 yet as its only November 2012.

The September 2012 build should be the same as your upcoming November or December build that you'd ordered as far as software and transmission programming afaik, but if it was over a year old don't walk but run away from the other car and wait for the new one.

First, thanks for all the input; much appreciated.

Should have been clear; the "local" one was built Sept 9, 12 as in less than 2 months ago.

One thing I also learned, no auto dimming mirror . The dealership priced one, $250 plus install. This really should be part of the top end pacakge. The car parks itself (sort of), but you manually dim the mirror.

Due to cost reasons and or a spat of quality concerns where people were complaining about the auto dimming mirror drooping Ford removed them from the option packages or the standard equipment list for 2013 on the Focus.
