After my Audi broke, I test drove a few cars with the '08 Mazda 3 being the winner. I got the tiptronic auto and it was a blast to drive at first and I thought I was in love that that car's handling. A year later, that love kind of trickled and I was left with asking myself why I actually settled on the 3. Long story short, last Christmas, I had a flat tire and my mom let me drive her Focus to my fiance's family get-together. That was the first time that I'd actually said I have to get one of these! It felt fantastic, looked fantastic, was very inviting, and didn't feeling like I was going to break something if I touched it. So, now I'm stuck with these rules:

1. I will only own an Audi if it's under warranty.

2. I will only own a non-Ford if it's Honda or Toyota and a 2-seater.

Just came here to say that the Mazda 3 still rides on the old Focus platform.

Our current Focus has moved on.

C1 VS. C1MCA isn't that different, the Mazda 3 is still based on the earlier version of the C1 platform, yes, but its not like the new Focus is as big a leap from this mk2 euro focus as it was from the three sub revisions of the original C170 platform that stayed here for a decade past its sell by date.

Read my first post. There are evolutionary differences, but many parts will interchange. I has been proven. They are different, but not as much as you might think.

I can't get past how well Ford did on the new focus. They finally realised Americans like the euro feel and luxury.

I think they finally realized it was truly cheaper to have one model across the world than giving America a pile of crap.

This time last year I was debating a Focus, but the new ones were not up for order in Canada (February specifically) and I settled for a old Lincoln. Glad I did because the new one was so worth the wait.

I believe you are right. Now we just need them to bring the turbo diesels and wagons over here.

I'd rock that wagon. Hard.

Especially the ST version.
