I got an appointment tomorrow morning. It's at Modern Automotive Performance here in MN.
They use a Dynojet 424x.
I'm also going by myself so I don't know how videos will work but I know numbers and a graph will be achieved.
To be honest I'm just hoping for 150 hp at the wheels through the 6 speed DCT . Achievable?
I'll post results tomorrow asap.
Ok.... numbers. [headbang]
Run1: 164.06 HP 145.18 TQ Run2: 164.35 HP 147.12 TQ Best Results
Run3: 164.14 HP 145.85 TQ
Still uploading the videos via my 4g cellphone I took them on. Taking a little while. Sorry guys.
Graphs.

Testing the downshifting (yes I was wrong before, it does still downshift automatically even in sport mode with you selecting your own gears with the thumb rockers).
Looks like you shut all the people up who didn't think those numbers were going to happen... btw not all motors will make the same power some make 140wheel stock and some make 150 all just depends on clearances.
No motor will ever make the same power as its twin right next to it. Redfocus will remember the zetecs made 105whp all the way to 125whp stock which is crazy. Its all in how they are built no two are the same.
Total mods of my Dyno will be.
0-20w full synthetic, gapped plugs. 050" (ya I keep adjusting them), f2headers with f2 flex and 2.5 borla flex back with dual exit. Also premium fuel. Im running it out of gas and making sure its all 93 nothing less. I want 180whp but let's see what comes.
Also yes the flex is not modified but you will need to cut the exhaust in half after the first muffler and put a sleeve to add the 1/2 that was pulled by the header.
Yeah my zetec was one of the 105whp motors [hihi] but back in those days was because of the set cam gears, once I installed cam gears and went to a 0/0 on intake and exhaust I gained power.
Ox-y-GenIII could you tell us what the altitude, air pressure, temp and humidity was at the time of the dyno? 164 is less than some of the other posts but if it was hot or you are at high elevation you will tend to get lower numbers.
The only other dyno of this setup that has been posted is fswerks official one, they got 167, 164 is within reason and is the fastest posted dyno from a user and not manufacturer.
I uploaded them to youtube. My photobucket account warned me that my bandwith is about to exceed the monthly 5gb so if they go down or stop showing up my videos and pics then we all still have youtube.
Anyone know how to embed a thumbnail image of a youtube video in a post? I will re-edit the front page when I find out how.
Haha, no worries. I'm excited to see what FocusBoy's car does with a header on it. These numbers make the new ST a bit less appealing, not going to lie...
Exactly what I was thinking, I want to see if his numbers add another 10hp maybe more, then it really makes the new ST less appealing. If it had 300 it would be a different story.
Add a roush supercharger down the road, which you'll be able to do standalone, and you'd easily be making 240whp, (obviously this is a guess, but 60whp isn't a lot for an s/c). I don't plan on getting a new car until spring, so I guess I can see what the STs do with light mods, if that motor is near maxed out, or if light mods make it 300+hp...
aftermarket parts on the ST will probably push it near 300. Will be interesting to see if anybody takes the turbo from the ST and sticks it on a 5MT focus, DCT cant handle that much torque
Depends on the snail they used and a few other things, there are several factory turboed cars out there, that made very little hp with mods, until you change the turbo.
yeah that's true, the real limit for oxy is the DCT, it supposedly is limited to 175 ft/lbs of torque, which is fine for NA because it still is only in the 140s maybe 150s with header, but a SC or turbo will probably get over that.
The ST 2.0t will make 300whp with a tune and boost controller. Im getting the ST because the interiors are worlds apart. The ST was torture tested to 470hp from ford before it had issues.
The current focus cant make much more power then where its at without ripping the motor apart and putting lower compression. 200whp from a basic focus is good but the ST is going to be where its at for me. Fully loaded those recaros already have my butt waiting to sit in them.
High compression and boost dont mix. you can maybe put 8 psi into this motor and thats about it. 280 (maybe) whp for another 5000. When a base ST starts at 24,900.
You cant get a base focus for under 20,000 that will compare to the ST base

Id love to put an RS 5cyl, 6 speed in my sedan... 306 HP stock lol... upgraded, tuned, I think near 450-500 HP then[strongman][strongman][strongman][strongman]
All I have to say after looking at the graphs is HOLY SHIT... This car runs 13+ AFR under WOT thats not a good sign.... That means with tuning were not going to see crap for extra HP on the same gas... Its running Super lean lowend Way to lean which means we can get hp and tq up BIG TIME at 3500-5000rpm mark but past that by bringing it to 12.8-13.0 afr we may see a whole 3-4whp maybe on 87... 93 with higher timing is another story.
They would have used an air fuel gauge that was clamped onto the exhaust tip. One thing to consider though is with the sensor so far down stream it will always read leaner, sometime by as much as a half point.
In my experience with tuning DI ecotec motors is they can run leaner then a counter part car with injectors. This car may see best gains from increased timing more so then leaning out the fuel tables. And don't forget we have the VCT to tunes as well [evil]
Does anyone know if the DCT was torture tested at 170lb/ft or if thats just a claim. General rule of thumb: Beleive nothing until people start having problems. I'm not saying it can handle 250lb/ft but in todays market you really never know. It's going to be a really interesting year as far as new discoveries are concerned.
You need to STOP doing WOT runs till you can get some fuel to that car , your doing over 14 AF till 5000 then not much better after
You will blow that engine with those AF , you should NEVER mod an engine like this that you cannot tune , for "some shops" its all about the money and selling parts reguardless of the out come ,
I would NOT install anything to these new Foci till there was tuning out , THEY WILL GO LEAN and you can and some have already hurt these engines , they came from Ford to lean and adding these type of parts makes the issue worse
The other thing that is missing because we dont have his stock numbers is what was the a/f ratio before, if they were the same then it is not aftermarket parts causing the problem.
Well I hope to dyno mine in about a month with it stock and a friend of mine recommmended a place that will give 3 runs with A/F for $75 I believe he said. and it was like $50 without a/f but I guess due to this I will run it with the A/F to see what it does
