Well I figure we have two scenarios now. The best would be just bringing the car to the dealer and having the module programmed for the mirrors. The worst would be if there were two or more different modules possible at the end of the harness, one with the mirror support and one without. This unknown would of course be solved if we had access to a wiring diagram and shop manual.

Hi Guys, while browsing the whole parts catalog on the website I ordered the mirrors from, under Front Door/Glass & Hardware/Control Module; I found two separate modules; one for puddle lamps and one without. Has anyone seen signs of a module on the door that's accessible? Is there perhaps one between the speaker and the mirror, or is this module in the door?
I've been trying to find references to the BCM on the website but haven't had any luck; I would like to see how many of these are available. The number of ECM's is insane; looks like there have been alot of revisions to that piece of electronics.
Thanks Titanium Tony for checking; hope you feel better.

Good news!!! I just plugged in my heated mirror, and hit the rear defrost button and it worked! I unfortunately didn't have the right size torx bit (buddy has it lol). So i just plugged it in and held it, and before I tried it all i misted the mirror and put it in my freezer lol. Plugged it in and all the ice started melting, and I felt the glass as well and it was warm. But as said prior the puddle light didn't work, I'm gonna ask the diag tech at work tomorrow if he can plug up to my car and see if that is a setting that he can turn on.

Theres gotta be a way, I just doubt they went through the trouble of making the cars that different in electrical and wiring for such a simple add on. It seems to cost effective to do that. I think it'll be as simple as having it turned on, because it'll most like be within the same circuitry as the lights that come on when you unlock or open the doors.

So I just went out and tested mine again and the same results, no power going to mirror pins on the rear of the glass. Are different trim levels also wired that different? Yeah, please let us know what you find on the puddle lamps.

LOL! Yes, car was running during both test. Do me a favor and test for voltage at the leads on the back of the mirror glass and see what readings you're getting. I did this instead on the misting and freezer method, maybe I could be mistaken.

Will do, I'll test it out tomorrow when I go into work tomorrow, I don't have a meter right off hand. I don't see why yours wouldn't work seeing that you have Ti.

Hi All,
I actually went to motorcraft and bought a year's worth of access to the service manual to the car. Scarily, there are a few different wiring set ups for mirrors. Strangely enough, one configuration does not have a door module and one does. Does anyone know how to look up which one you have? It would seem that if you don't have a door module you don't have a setup for puddle lamps.
I am familiar with VW wiring diagrams and service manuals but not Ford's. Any help/hints would be greatly welcomed.
