Bicycle In the Back

One of my requirments for my new car was that a bicycle fit in the back without the removal of any parts from the bike. The 2012 focus hatch meets this requirement. The rear seats must be folded down.

This is a 58cm Trek road bike.

Sweet! This is exactly what I want to do the minute I get my car home! Not exactly able to do test this on a test drive. I eyeballed it and figured it'd be fine. Now I don't have to worry! Thank you for the picture!!!

Edit: I have a Trek 4900 woman's bike.

I took my bike to the dealer and tried it out prior to purchase.

I bet you could fit two if you took the front wheels off first.

Nice, I never bothered finding out whether the seats still folded flat on the new foci. That's one of my favorite parts of a focus because I can get a bike in the back of my old three door for long trips when I can't trust my bike rack. I guess that's another good reason to upgrade cars someday.

This is an excellent thread thrown up, as I was just thinking about it. I have a '12 focus hatchback, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a bike rack for it, and where I can find it. It's good to know that I can stuff a good bike in the back inside, but when moving around, I might need that room for other things, and a place to holster that bike up back.

I have a cheap bike rack from Harbor Freight if I remember correctly. I would not recommend getting it or a cheap one. The saddles that hold the bike were allowed to move freely on the bars and the bike has slid into my bumper and scratched the paint. The pin that holds the rack in an upright position also failed a couple days ago and put the bike on the road, but fortunately, I was in a driveway going slow at the time. The one thing I can recommend that I have liked is the hitch mount. They are really easy to put on the car when you have a hitch, and when they work correctly, they should not damage the car in any way.
