Everyone has opinions and I respect yours but me and others that own RB's will agree that we are not "destroying the look" of the MK3 if the "look" I'm going for is to have a rally oriented car! The way I customize my car being 18 years old is going to be worlds different than that of a 30-40-50 year old simply because there are many different accepted styles from those time periods! I come from the time where I grew up playing Need for Speed and the Colin McRea rally game and I fell in love with the look! Now feel free to come back to us if you see us buying Walmart hood scoops, Chrome side engine vents, and writing ST on the back with the chrome Autozone letters and ill give you permission to slap me, But please don't come into the thread that says After market Mud Flaps and expect to see the POS OEM plastic guards and then bash us on the RB's
Peacocking oversized mud flaps draws attention to the mud flaps. Doesn't make sense to me why someone would want to draw attention to mud flaps. Kinda like autozone hood scoops or cheese ball side vents. Maybe on an awd vehicle, and that's a stretch.
At least the OEM ones fit properly and are not crooked looking.
The MK3's have nice lines, those street sweeper mud flaps do an injustice to the looks of the car.
Idk why the pictures make them look severely crooked! They are a touch but ive been just too lazy to remove the rear wheels to fix them! I will tomorrow when i install my Steeda sway bar! And yes the MK3 is a gorgeous car especially with the black pack I have, But with the thousands of hatches in the motor capitol of the world I wanted to stand out! And when you take a look at the car the mud flaps add a taste of racy-ness to the car! They don't "distract" from the rest of it! And i cant even count how many thumbs up I've gotten from other focus and Subie owners! Thats good enough for me! Ive always wanted the look of a rally car, the flaps and name tags I have accomplish that! To me, a car that catches my eyes is one that looks like it is meant to be on a track and the only reason its on the road is because I'm just driving it to the next event! A sense of race rawness to a car is sexy.
I agree man! I don't think these flaps ruin the car. They are just made for a different look. Not everyone wants the rally look on their car. I love the rally look. I hate the factory look on cars. I like to see some personalization to them. I love people looking at my car. I always get compliments on my mud flaps. But it all just comes down to personal taste.
I do have to say though! Once my college expenses are taken care of! I am saving up for tarmacs and the flaps will come off and ill be putting springs on! Lol
I really want to buy the black rokblokz with the red RB but I'm scared that the red used for the logo will clash and look ugly with my shade of red (Ruby Red). Any thoughts?
It seems to me that the rear of the car gets a lot of dust and road splash. Do mudflats help with this issue? It could possibly change the airflow enough to redirect some of the crap from getting all over the rear window, maybe?
I scrape mine on everything. Mine front ones sit on the ground now since I've installed coilovers. You could resell holes and raise them so they don't sit lower than your car. Otherwise you're outta luck.
I bought some from a guy on here for 20.00. He said he ordered 2 by accident from china. I put the front on and will put the back on this weekend after I get a floor jack. The back tire will have to come off to do it correctly.
I have to say they look PIMP. I will take pics when I get the rear on. This past weekend I noticed my dads ford 500 had the same ones basically. I couldn't tell the difference and at 80's yrs old he didn't put them on. I really don't like those that stick out like a couple pages back.
Hope you don't run into any snow or ice with the Chinese mudflaps. Mine looked great but didn't last a day after the first snow fall last winter. Supposed abs plastic snapped first time snow built up on them.
I ordered one of the China ebay sets also (same as aliexpress ones above). This is the first I've heard of them having issues in cold weather. I didn't like how they fit, so I never installed them and they're still sitting in my garage. I bought OEM and never looked back.
Nice too bad they don't make the (cheap/reasonably riced) poly-blend plastic mud flaps in custom molds. Cant see myself spending $150 on mudflaps. Maybe I can get ObamaCare to pay for them. we shall call them Obamaflaps
After this heavy snow season I started loosing my UR Rally Armor mudflaps one by one. While having some sideways fun in the snow one rear fell off and the other rear was being held on by one bolt. The high speeds and compacting of the snow was no match for the fabric and the little plastic in the back wheel well. A week later a front one came off white reversing in the snow. I have been rolling around the past two weeks with only one front mudflap but its been too damn cold to go wrench on it to take it off. Finally had a gorgeous day at 60 degrees F.
After 2 and a half years of bashing on these things dont dirt roads and the snow. They held up great for only $15 and did an awesome job. Im sure they saved my paint from many chips and keeping my car a bit cleaner on the highway. I would get another pair but when the rears came off the messed up the fabric in the rear wheel well and the plastic holes to bolt another set on.
Here is what they look like after 2 years of abuse. The photo makes them look worse than they really are. its just a bunch of dried salt and on them.
Im starting to like my car more with them off, going to lower it this summer anyways.
Hopefully the last bit of snow for the season
So long mudflaps its been great
