I will lower my pressure to 38-39 now that I know I've been running a little high.
I hear you, but I have dozens of speed humps and bumps where I live and the impacts were just too much for my taste. Even my Mustang with the Ford Racing suspension and 20" wheels didn't jar me like the Focus did before I let some air out of the tires!!!

Hi there....I have the exact same car as you (and color too!). I just filled up and averaged 31.6 MPG. My driving is about 40/60 city/highway, but I drive easy. No quick take offs. If you accellerate quickly (or even what some would consider normally), you can expect lower MPG...somewhere in the 28-29 range. I am going to Colorado in it later this summer and am looking forward to seeing how it performs on long stretches of highway! If I can get 36+ on that trip, I will be happy.

Mine says not to use E 85 right on the ring where you insert the fuel pump.

I hit a milestone today. I was hovering around 29.9 to 30.2 with a combination of 60/40 city/highway. Driving yesterday and this morning with the AC on it dropped to 29.5/28.9. Before work today I ran some errands in the city then went to the dealership to pick up a cargo mat, still around 29.0. I filled up near the dealership and drove about 1.5 miles at 40 mph on a county road with two stop lights, then I got on the freeway for about 5 miles to work. As I was exiting the guage read 41.4 mpg's! That's the first time I've gone over 40. I checked the hand calulated vs. the computer and at this fill-up and they both were 31.1 average. So far so good.

I have a question. I just got my SEL Hatch 5-spd manual on Monday.

I am coming from a 2002 2.2 Cavalier 5-spd manual

I find that the Focus runs at a higher RPM than my cavalier.

on the highway going about 115km/h my cavalier would be at 2500-2700 rpm

the focus is at 3000.

anyone else notice this too? right now according to the computer my average fuel economy is 8.3l/100km which is about 28mpg. I drive id say 90% highway.

so i feel that this is a bit low. I know it still has a lot to go for brake in as i only have 250km on it.

main concern was the high RPM's and just want to see what others are running at.

25....kinda upset about that. Hopefully this is just the break-in period talking. I even got the sfe so I'm really hoping things brighten up.

mpg on new focus

Have put over 4000 mi on new focus se sedan in last couple of weeks & couldn't be happier. Am averaging 38mpg so far in all kinds of driving conditions.
I noticed the average mpg readings aren't always to accurate (sometimes off as much as 3) so I go by actual usage.

Yeah, I'm not getting the numbers most of you are reporting yet. I'm hovering at 24.6, but my eco scores are through the roof. If I could manage a 32-35 average, I'd be stoked! I gotta figure out how to get another 10+ mpgs out of it first. Does anyone have any idea what kind of increase in MPGs to expect after this notorious break-in period?

I have an auto and I'm at about 2600 rpms at 70 mph, which should be 113 kph. I thought mine was a little high too, but every car I've owned is a little different.
