I am curious how many people would purchase Fords Euro LED/HID headlamps for their 2012 Focus.
We have not had any confirmation from a Ford Engineer in regards to their compatibility, but they appear to be about the same.
*If they were available, that is one of the first things that I would do!
When i went to order my Titanium, I was very specific about getting the HID/LED headlamps put in. I even showed them the Picture from ford.ca and they said its not available.
Pic from website:
I asked them to look into it for me and apparently they couldnt find anything. So i said dont advertise things and then not offer it at dealerships.

When Ford first announced the 2012 Focus, it was to come with the projector lamps shown in the picture. However, it was later taken out of the North American model (Europe still gets it in their Titanium model).
The only way to get this is to order it from a Ford parts store in Europe, or wait until they are available on ebay, as far as I know.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I doubt any dealer here will be able to get them from North American FORD.
Correct. All painted surfaces on the focus are identical worldwide. Assuming there is nothing blocking the light from the rear (like the Fiesta) then they should fit. It is definitely high on my list of modifications.
It should also be noted that this is not advertised as an option or anything. Sure you can find a few pictures now of them still kicking around, but they all have disclaimers saying "Production model may differ".
The majority of North American pictures (like 95%) show the headlights that we will be getting.
While it sucks that the dealer can't get you these parts, I don't think he should be chewed out, when they don't actually advertise it as available.
Correct me if I am wrong but do the titanium head lights look tinted compared to a SE Trim package. I have this proprietary document from Ford that list all the option codes, show what is compatible with certain colors of the car. Doesn't say anything about HID/LED head light, tint on the titanium edition and models with active grille shutters. The edit date is January 3rd 2011.

I believe what your seeing is the difference between the chrome (S, SE, SEL) and the black (Titanium) headlight eyebrow.
I didn't think they were HID, but I thought there was a difference between the two trim packages. I actually I found it in my document "Head Lights - Black Surround" Probably have to swap the whole headlight assembly if I wanted that style.
HID's will likely be an option available at a later date/model year. I believe the electric Focus will come with them as standard equipment (since they're more efficient than halogens). I'm hoping they'll be an option on the ST as well.
After having HID's, I really don't want halogens again... ever.
I wouldn't count on this. Remember, they were supposed to originally be available when the car was in design, but we lost them here. Mainly because we complain too much about the price, so they had to find ways to keep costs down. It is possible that it may be an option to come later, but personally I don't think it will come. If they thought it was really cool and a good thing to offer, they would have put it out at the beginning to entice more buyers.
From my experience, auto makers usually tend to cut back on expenses as the model year gets on in age, not add.
Posted via FF Mobile If americans stop complaining about 28k dollar foci then maybe you'll see LEDs and HIDs. And guess what, lots of complaints are coming from this very site, you dont think they are listening? If HIDs and leds were in the list each car would be close to $1000 more and people would be comaining even more about the price instead of looking to see what they are getting for it. Personally I want a freaking heated windshield, but thatll never come because americans complain to much. Sorry, if you want a cheap, a to b outdated car go buy a 2010-2011, plenty of those sitting around. But the 2012 is growing up, it wants options and if you dont want them just dont click the check box next to them. Everyones making a big stink that the focus is too expensive but its really not. Prices are similar to the 2011s and your even getting much more for your money. Its just you can load these things up with tons of options so thats why it has a high price ceiling. Stuff gets mor expensive as the years go on. I dont see my parents btchin that cars arent 5 grand anymore...but many of you are still stuck in 2000 and are complaining about a few grand.
That's exactly what we want, the option... For those looking for a cheap Focus, simply don't choose the option. For those wanting HID's, Ford if you're listening, give us the option. The new focus is supposed to be all grown up, but it doesn't include one of our favorite options. It has rain sensors, but no HID's? I'd gladly trade.
Ok, we are having a good discussion and it seems that most of us would opt to have the Euro headlamps if they were available. Why don't we all email Ford to ask for it, even if it is only available through the parts department. Personally I believe that this little detail elevates the car into luxury territory of the Audi A3, Volvo C30, etc, and would attract many many more buyers.
Here is an update on the Euro Headlamps. They are only standard on the Titanium X ($21 UK Pounds)
Bi-xenon headlights
Casting a powerful beam, the swept-back bi-xenon headlights (Standard on Titanium X) provide twice as much light as standard halogen bulbs yet use less energy.
LED Day Running lights
Fitted with bi-xenon headlights, LED Day Running lights add stylish good looks and help you stand out more on the road. The ultra bright LED rear lights also improve visibility
Thanks for all the fantastic headlamp pictures in this thread everyone. At first, swapping out the N.A. headlights for the UK ones was going to be my main alteration. But after looking at the comparison of Titanium trim headlights, I'm really liking the black surrounds we get over here in N.A. The LEDs would be nice, and it would be great to get rid of that yellow indicator lens, but I don't know if I'd sacrifice the black surrounds for them now.
I'm sure that there will be a ton of third party companies that will manufacture lights for the new focus, just as they have been doing for the older models. After a few years, I wouldn't be surprised if the market was flooded with "eurospec" headlights for the 2012, with all types of styles and color temperatures. Of course, they may not be as nice as OEM parts from the UK.
I bet at least a few buyers in the UK are wishing for the black surrounds on the Titanium. The grass is always greener ey?

Welcome for the images.
The black headlight bezels are standard on UK Zetec & Titanium spec. The HID and LED headlight brows are standard on the UK & Euro spec Titanium X spec.
In other Euro markets the UK Zetec is called Trend and Trend Plus, the Zetec and Trend Plus is equal to North American SE with Sport Package or at least very close as far as appearance and features.
The Trend Plus has the black headlight bezels as standard.
I write both UK and Euro spec for the same reason I write North American when I am writing about the USA and Canada, if you get my drift.
I am willing to bet the st will include the led/Hid headlamps as it will really help the car stand out. I also think this is where the black housing/black tint version will come in. For any of you who want the hid headlamps for the 2012 I am sure you will be able to buy them through ford parts uk but as everyone is saying expect to pay around $1,000. Me personally, I wouldn't buy a new car today without that option.
I wish the HIDs and LEDs were an option, I probably would have paid pay about $1k to add it on. I have a feeling that adding it using Euro OEM parts would probably get even more expensive. However, I really like the black brow on the US Titanium models. The all-chrome HIDs really don't look so great IMO.
Projectors on mainstream cars are quite rare, the marketing data must show that US buyers in general just don't care very much.
Besides, we can always just stick HID drop-in kits straight into our stock reflectors and get that suweet jdm look yo!!! [vommit]
Those look nice. I thought they were a US-spec tease though? I didn't think euro models needed the amber reflector and amber turn signals.
Also kind of confused about which bulb does what. The projector is obviously the low-beam, I assume the reflector right next to it is the high beam, I guess the clear reflector on the inside is the marker (although it doesn't look like an amber bulb), and the amber area on the bottom is the turn signal.
Any idea if they will essentially just plug in, or will we need to also come up with a ballast for the HIDs, and wiring harness or something for the daytime running LEDs?
Also, thats 285 per lamp, with or without shipping?
As excited as I am about swapping for UK lights, I haven't seen anyone consider if they will be made in LHD. I've never had HIDs, and don't know if they can be adjusted to compensate or not. Perhaps it's a non-issue. If that's the case, I'd be game!
For the love of god, please don't put HIDs in the stock reflectors
