Tom,

I don't know about that.

I don't think the new Focus can be classified under the "value" class anymore (based on the cars you just mentioned) but highly likely will be classified under the "semi-premium" class.

If they can squeeze one into the 15k are that would be good. I think ford is focused more on shooting for vw, mazda and hell maybe even Mini. And they should, bc if its going to be really good I see it as being a bench mark for honda and toyota. Even if the ford focus starts at 16 something and it sells well, civic and corrola will follow and try to move slightly upmarket.

THE PRICE:
Euro MkII is cheap:
New platform, everything else is old
US MkII is cheap(I guess):
Old platform, old engines

MKIII
upgraded platform, new engines, new transmissions, new technology...
Lot's of new stuff so I really hope it will be similar priced like predcessors but there's TOO MUCH NEW things in MkIII.

For example here in croatia "normal equipted" 1.4 L Focus costs 12000 euros which is same as Fiesta (1.25 L engine) and similar small car class...
Focus competitors like VW Golf VI costs (also 1.4 L engine and normal equipment)
15500 euros, that's right - 3500 euros more, imagine how much equipment you can buy for 3500 euro! A lot since most of you are from US.

Autoklub magazine say that new Focus will costs 15000 euros here which would be GREAT but they didin't say anything about equipment and engines.

Focus is coming in Croatia in early 2011 so in west europe is coming 6 months early like fiesta...

The car looks great! I am sure this has been posted before on this thread, but for those not wanting to read through 32 pages, here are some links to see the car at the 2011 Detroit Auto show. If you don't want to watch the entire presentation, fast forward to 21:53.

The bottom sedan video shows that the A/C climate controls are easily accessible with the car set in "drive". So much for me doubting the control placement!

The new focus looks great. I do think the sedan looks better than the hatch.

Wow I like that. Hopefully they make a SVT or RS version in America.

So I was at the AutoShow today in Detroit checking out the new Focus, and the rear styling reminded me right away of an old Renault Laguna. I'm not saying it looks the same at all, but there are some striking similarities; the new gen US Focus right away reminded me of an old Laguna.
