Now that I think about it a co-worker put some generic license plate LEDs in a Chevy SSR and they started flickering on him. And I think my buddy has had flickering problems on his '10 Focus.

The bulbs from 42 Draft Designs is the way to go. V-LEDs also has 14.5V festoon bulbs, but the ones they offer would be too bright for license plate bulbs IMO.

law in iowa says as long as they don't simulate a stopping color (so red.. not really sure why they don't just say that.. wasting ink IMO) or aren't dimmer than stock lighting, and at the local auto zone all i had to choose from was blue or red, so i have this bright blue lights for plate lights now and i have yet to be pulled over

it obviously varies from state to state, and around here they don't really care what you have as long as it isn't a strobe and they don't see you driving all over town at night

I ordered and received the 42 draft designs bulbs. Now to wait and see if the SuperBrightLEDs start to flicker!

I'm also glad to report that so far my car has gone multiple days without driving, and the map/dome LEDs that stay on all the time haven't drained the battery. Thought people who are on the fence might like to know that :)

I notice that they only stay on partially only when the car is on and running, when ignition is off, they dont stay on.
