I did the same with mine as skinna, I will post a pic soon. However Instead of splicing into the radio harness, I have a mini project, that once I put my gauge pod in I can finish. I wired the lights into the Dome light, so when the car turns off and the door opens the lights come on. When the door closes the lights slowly fade off.

I found that switches are a pain. You will leave them on at least once a month.

FWIW..... When I do similar projects, I always use a separate fuse for the new circuit. The idea for fusing is to use a fuse rated just slightly higher than the current draw of the new stuff.

If you use the cig lighter fuse circuit, without a separate fuse for the new lights, the cig fuse has a rating way higher than the current draw of the lights. That means that it will take much longer for the fuse to blow if there's a short in the lights. And that risks burned wiring in the light harness, rather than a blown fuse.

You can tap into the cig fuse circuit.....but add a separate fuse holder and use a fuse rated much less than the cig fuse. A 3A fuse for LEDs is usually plenty.

i bought some leds from pepboys, and a cigarette adapter. after installing the lights i spliced all of them to together and hooked them to the cigarette adapter. i plan on getting more for the back seats so the whole interior will be blue at night. i need to figure out some locations to drill the holes for the leds though... any ideas...its a 2008 coupe

how would I change the dome lights to LEDs? Can I use a normal LED with a resistor, or are there LEDs that will fit right in the socket?

Another idea for power for you (in case you felt like giving it a shot):

I used two vampire clips behind the dash on the cig lighter. I took those and ran them parallel to my switch for my floor neon. Very clean, keeps the dash from having a wire hanging down from it, and keeps the cig lighter open for phone/GPS/radar power.

I used 18g wires off the vampires, then everything was just run behind dash and along the carpet seam to the lamps.

I installed some blue led bars in my footwell and under my seats. I like it only when you can see the glow from the lights and not the lights themselves. I adds a bit of class. And i just ran speaker wire straight from my lights to my battery.
Ill get some pics up to show you.
