Retain factory aux input jack with aftermarket radio?

I've been searching all morning and haven't really found a clear answer. I'd like to replace my factory radio with an aftermarket unit, but I want to retain the functionality of the factory aux input jack between the 12v ports. My 09 does not have Sync or steering wheel controls. Is there a connector that goes from the 4-pin plug on the back of the trim piece to 3.5mm or RCA? Has anyone else done this? The radio I plan on putting in has a normal 3.5mm input on the back, so I just need to know if there is a way to convert the plug on the back of the factory aux plug to 3.5mm, and I would rather not cut off the stock harness that goes to the stock radio. Thanks!!

so you want to make the stock input, tie into the aftermarket units input? so you keep the input in the stock location?

Exactly. Sorry if I made it seem more complicated than it needs to be. Other than a different radio, I would like it to look as stock as possible

okay, im not exactly sure how the stock aux plug is, it could just be a typical 3.5mm extension that plugs into the stock stereo. in which case it would be simple to do.

i havent seen the back of these stock units yet, I'll be doing my upgrade in 2-3 weeks but im sure youre will be before that.

Hopefully someone will chime into help you better.

It is a proprietary 4-pin plug that goes into the back of the 3.5mm port behind the trim piece which houses that and the 12v ports. I just wondered if anyone has ever repurposed it with their new stereo.

maybe just remove it, and get a 3.5mm extension cable, and route it down to the opening in the plastic where the old one was?

seems that would be the easiest.
