Keypad Door Entry Mod

One of the things I will miss the most from my 1999 Eddie Bauer Explorer is the key pad on the door. It saved my bacon more times than I care to recall. So I stumbled upon an item that made me wonder. Could this system or something similar be adapted to the Focus platform? I found this;

Ford Mustang F150 F250 Explorer Focus Keyless Entry Door Number Key Pad | eBay

The seller claims it will work with all manner of recent manufacture Fords. However, I have a feeling that the Devil is in the details or more specifically, the wiring. Anyone have any experience with or thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Ben

Man, I was just thinking about this same thing. There are some decent youtube videos, starting with this.

The next step would be finding out how/if you could re-program the code on a pik-a-part find.

My initial thought was that this was a wired system that required drilling the door, etc., but apparently it is not. That would seem to make it even easier. It is basically just like your key fob, but sticks to the door, or other place on the car.

That will work on most Foci, but from what I understand, not Foci with Intelligent Access.

Very simple programming procedure, stick-on application - easy peasy.

These do work on our cars, they were a dealer installed option. I know there's at least one person on here that has one.

Yep...you can also set up your own code, which works in addition to the factory code. The factory code cannot be deleted. It comes with a card that you can keep in your wallet in case you forget.

Remember to have both fobs with you when you're performing the learning procedure: all three items have to be "married" to the car at the same time.

I've changed my mind on this. I like the idea, but the device itself is kind of chunky. I've seen some live now and its definitely more bulky than factory versions wired into the door. A vertical one would be better- hide it in the window frame, but I haven't seen one.

Mine is integrated vertically on the door; nearly invisible when not lit (stock photo).

Someone was trying to figure out if it could be a retrofit on 2012-2014 models.
