Lack of value

I can't believe the lack of value my car has this past month. I've been offered, $2,000, $2,500, and $3,000 and not a penny more.

Has anyone else noticed this? Mine is clean, under 100K miles, nothing more than the expected dings from being a 6 year old car. I know dealers tend to kill you on trade in, but I've also had it listed on CL for a couple months now and no bites. Should this be expected?

Check some "blue book" sires for a reference, before fuel prices dropped our cars were still getting premium prices used. (haven't checked lately)

I noticed this as well when I priced out a trade in on the 2011 I have. For the price they were willing to give me I'd rather just have an extra car :)

Blue Book doesn't mean anything. The value is what are able to get on the local market. I have used CL (as a buyer and seller) but I have found that other venues are better. Local trade publications and classifieds might get better results. Autotrader is worthwhile. CL attracts a lot of people who will waste your time. That said, when doing a listing, take EXCELLENT and PLENTIFUL photos, and do a well written and edited ad. I tend to go overboard and describe everything. I want to answer as many questions as possible in advance without having to actually talk to people to explain things. This also helps weed out the unserious buyers.

Just looked at Hudson Valley CL. You've got a lot of competition. Quite a few nice Focus for sale, so right now looks like a glut of supply.

It all depends on what the buyer wants, you can get mk3s for relatively cheap these days used. Many people just go that option as well and don't look for mk2s that aren't svt or roushes

I've checked NADA, and I've checked KBB. Both state around $4600-$5100. I had it on CL for months between $7000 and $5000 and not one person bit. It's just odd to me. 6 years old, less than 100K and I'd rather keep it for $2000.

If they offer a price like that and no bites. Drive it till it dies! Its sad an MK1 can fetch as much as an MK2 and doesnt have the near the technology, granted it can be added but not factory. Im not a big fan of the MKll's but I would still think around 5-6K would be good...

But again...its a focus...
