Yes just to clarify, I can put my key in and take it out easily. Actually getting to turn the engine over is the problem. There is a lot of play/lateral movement when the key is inserted, and I have to push it just enough to the sweet spot to work

So I brought the car into a locksmith this afternoon. He said that the cylinder appears to be fine and he wouldn't want to take my money to replace it.

Any other ideas? What is the cylinder connected to? Could this be some sort of electrical problem?

I'm struggling for ideas.

That is one Honest locksmith, the Ignition Cly is all mechanical, it is connected to electronics but nothing electronic would prohibit the movement.

Yeah the locksmiths were nice guys. Two elderly gentlemen that seem to care about their customers. They suggested a mechanics shop that they usually work with and I brought the car in.

After the diagnosis, they said that the ignition switch was going bad. Diagnosis/parts/labor ran me $270 out the door.

I wish I would have been able to research this a little more to compare prices, but the fact that I would have had to take additional time from work to have the repair done persuaded me to just go ahead with them.

Does that price sound reasonable for the repair?

$270 isnt too bad the switch and cly are the same thing, once you consider the labor its not too bad. I got stranded when mine wouldnt turn and I think I paid $250 for a locksmith so its in the ballpark.

Im starting to have that problem with mine. My problem isn't with turning the key or getting stuck in the lock cylinder, my problem is that it wont crank when I turn the key to the start position. Sometimes I have to turn the key backwards, and re-try to get it to crank. Its an intermittent problem that I cannot always duplicate.

That's the same issue that I was having. Key would turn fine, but the engine wouldn't crank. After having the ignition switch replaced, it works like a champ.

Ive been having the same problem for a while now. Its really starting to piss me off!

No problem at all getting the key in and out. Just when you turn the key all the way to start it nothing happens. Do it about 10-15 times and it will start.

Sometimes It starts first try. The other day at the gas station it took 4 mins to get it to start..
