Filling In 3rd Brake Light & Rear Badge

Hello all, I had a few questions about a little body work project I want to do on my 2010 Focus.

I want to pull off my third brake light and fill it in (and then sand / prime / paint it which isn't a problem). I've been told to use bondo to fill in the hole but I haven't used it before. I know to put something in the empty space where the brake light was to make it a little more solid before I start filling the hole. I was thinking a sheet of metal and using a metal adhesive like Scotch Weld for it.

I'd like to do the same with my rear Ford badge which actually seems easier since I just have to pull the badge off sand the area then bondo it.

Is there anything particular I should do with the wires for it? I was going to just tape them up, but figured I would ask.

Does that sound like a good way to go about this for anyone that has done this sort of thing before?

Thanks for the answers in advanced!

Don't fill it all in with Bondo. It will look ok for a couple of months, but after a while it will shrink and you will an outline of the oval and the brake light. I've been thinking of doing this also. You need to make patch panels and then weld them in. After that you can do all the needed body work.

I am not 100% sure, but removing your 3rd brake light might be against the law. I think all cars since a certain date need to have them.

Shoot, I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for the heads up on that gents.

I'd still like to do something though. Maybe change the 3rd to something like a led strip along the top edge of the trunk? I'll have to think on it some.
