Equalization?

Is there any product or download or iphone app or anything at all that will give me more control over the sound? I don't really want to switch anything out, just put something in there. It's been driving me crazy for the past 2&1/2 years. Some control of the subwoofer would be good. Anything would be good. By the way, I'm married and my wife will kill me if I spend a fortune. She thinks I probably already have enough toys.

I dont think there is anything you can do to the stock setup without replacing it or otherwise dumping money into it. Probably just cheaper to replace the head unit.

The lack of mids kills me too, but yeah, there isn't much you can do. A different speaker setup might help if you don't want to swap out. Also play around with different sound balances (IE between Driver's Seat and All Seats) and the EQ.

I use my iPad for music in my car, but I have swapped my speakers out for some alpines but I use an app call EQu on it. There's also a version of it for the iPhone/iPod. After I put the new speakers in I still wasn't getting the sound I was looking for and started considering getting a new head unit as well/amp etc but EQu really cleaned everything up for me. It's a full graphic equalizer in the car.

I use my iphone for all the music in the car. I got the moon and tune thinking it would have more control. Don't get me wrong, I love sync and all the features, but my wife bought a new Camry when I got my Focus a couple of years ago. It makes me sick that her car sounds better than mine. I was a music major in college and was trained in recording later. So, I know what things should sound like. Rock and metal sound OK, but any classical or bluegrass sounds pretty bad. A piano by itself is horrible.

To be fair, classical is brutal to EQ in a car stereo. I know I went from a car that had component speakers to this and I miss the definition from that system but the stock Focus system isn't bad. I have a pair of Kenwood Excelons that are a couple years old I'm probably going to put in the front doors because of their amazing clarity through various ranges. As for the sub, I don't know how Ford set it up, or where the amp is, but some amps, at least 4 channels, have hi/lo pass filters to control what frequency ranges are boosted by the sub and other speakers. I think a setup like that would greatly benefit this car.

She got a Camry which is a much more expensive car than the Focus, I would tell her you are taking the difference in price of her car and yours and invest it in a car stereo. If she squawks about it tell her your taking the Camry and she can have the Focus. If she doesn't like that idea, help her pack.
