Weird Acceleration 2010?

First off, I love this car. Handling, style and speed are all good. This car was an upgrade from my Dad's Prius I had been driving, so I love it. But there seem to be some small problems with the transmission.

I'll be driving along and then come to a stop and then try to accelerate and the car has this... lag. I'll press the Gas and then it will roll for a minute and then go " HOLY S**T I'M IN DRIVE! and lurch forward it is really annoying.

Also, it shakes at a stop really bad. I took it to my stealership and they said it was normal and that every single one of the 08-11 cars shook like that when they were at a stop. This seemed fishy as I read nothing about it and saw nothing when searched.

Any help is appreciated.

i have 2011 ses auto and i have the "lag" or a slight hesitation when punching from a light. i think its because its a "fly by wire" setup. as far as the shaking i have never had that. i would take it to a different dealership and have them give it a quick look over. you might also try like conrads or NTB (dont know if they have them by u) i would try to do this sooner than later in case of lemon laws or whatever.

The "lag" is the drive by wire and you learn to adapt to drive to its needs. the shake could be a bad mount

i have a 5 speed car and to try and rev-match downshift is a pain because of the throttle by wire system

I'm used to the wire drive, I don't even notice it. I do know that my 2002 Zetec was slow as a turtle compared to Duratec, so I dont really mind.
