NEW to FF. Question about 2008 CCFL Projectors.

Hello everybody,

I am new to FF. I will post pictures up eventually. I drive a 2008 Focus SE Coupe. I am from the Detroit Area.

I am wanting to purchase a pair of the CCFL projector headlights. I've read the how to threads about how to install them but i am still confused on what type of bulbs they use.

I currently am running a h13 kit from ddm tuning in my stock housing. With the projectors do i have to buy a h9 kit, or just the h9 bulb? or a h11 kit? I am a little confused on which one.

False. The bulbs that come with them are H9, and you would need an H9 kit. Not sure if he'd just need to buy bulbs and can keep using the same ballasts, but you definitely don't need an H11 kit.

well...when i bought mine(off of ebay) i had read various threads off of this site and focal jet and had read that we needed h11 bulbs. so i ordered 2 h11 hid kits (one kit for my headlights and one kit for my fog lights). everything pluged in the way it was apparently supposed to because everything lights up and every plug has a male and female connection. i suppose it could had been a screwup on a galactic scale, but i was just relaying my information.

2011 SE is correct. The Eagle Eyes only use the H9 bulb.

Now since you already have a HID kit for H13 (Factory housing) all you need is the HID Capsule H9 to fit the Eagle Eyes projectors and utilize the Ballast you got from DDM.

Here is a light output difference from H9 and H11

H11 = 55w bulb (used with non reflector shield housing)
H9 = 65w bulb (used mainly with reflector shield housing)

H11 55w

H9 65w

The aftermarket CCFL's can take an H9 or an H11 HID Kit, when the kit comes, they come with a halogen H9, but the H9 HID bulb and the H11 HID bulb both fit perfectly in the housing. Right now im running the H11 HID's, so really it up to xMEGAMANx which kit he wants to run.

And if your already running HID H13 kit, you will need a different kit. The way the new lenses are set up, for High beams they switch the position of the lens instead of using a different filament or bulb. So the new lenses plug right in to your stock headlight connector and one prong of the three prong plug goes to switch the lens from low to high and the other two go to the headlight bulb. At the headlight bulb is where the new kit will need to be wired in.

another question, what is a good quality place to get hids that are inexpensive? i know ddm tuning is cheap but when i first ordered the h13 bi-xenon kit i ordered 10000k, but wasnt the color output i wanted, so then i bought 12000k replacements and still wasnt the color output i wanted. it seemed like they were 8000k both times. im looking to get 10000k for my projectors. any suggestions?

Not to rain on your parade but that info is HIGHLY incorrect.

First off a Ballast is a ballast. Its JOB is to Ignite and supply AC current to the Capsule. This part is UNIVERSAL to whichever style plug you have on your capsule (D1S,D2S,AMP......). There 35w and 55w ballast that's commonly used in automotoive.

OP, ALL you need to buy is the PROPER Bulb you need to install into your Projectors. 2011 SE is running H9 55w HIDS in his projectors. I would recommend H9 also.

About the projector, The actual lens doesn't move when you turn on your Hi-beams. There is a "cut off shield" inside the projector that has a "Magnetic" switch and when you turn on your Hi-beam switch, the cut off shield drops down and allowing a broader beam of light go through the projectors. Here is a picture from TRS that has the cut off shield showing with the magnetic switch.

as you can see in the Right projector how the HI beam solenoid works.

*edit**

A great color to run is between 4200k-6000K. Anything more is useless light.
