VHT Caliper Paint

So I'm going to be installing my new suspension on my focus this weekend and I was gonna take the time to paint my calipers red while am at it.

Does anyone have any experience painting calipers? I had mine painted red before but I guess the guy used regular paint, so the paint couldn't handle the heat being released from the breaks causing it to chip day by day until no which is completely chipped.

Anyways I want to paint it and I'm thinking about using VHT Caliper Paint. (First I'm gonna clean it and everything before painting but..) Does anyone have any experience with VHT Caliper Paint or have painted their calipers before?

http://www.vhtpaint.com/products/caliperpaint/

Or what do you recommend?

works fine. Had mine (1 side that is) painted for about 20k miles and they still look good. Its all about the preparation, do it right and you'll have great results.
Good luck

Painted the rear drums on my car, worked great but I took my time and sanded/prepped for about as long as I spent painting.

I'm planning to clean them use the caliper cleaner, then paint prep, then paint them red and then clear coat it. (Wait for it to dry before I move on to the next layer obviously) the only thing I am confused with is if I have to bake it at 200F to seal it or can I just put them back on the car after having them dried?

the heat of driving will bake them just fine, I sanded and wire brushed mine to clean them up a little as well.

I don't remember if it recommends a clear coat or not. As every one noted prep is the most important part and follow the instructions and you will be good.

I had it on my Mustang for six years and it never chipped, the color faded some over the years. I didn't put them in the oven either, just sprayed them good with brake cleaner for prep. I just painted the calipers on my focus a few weeks ago, so far so good.

VHT recommends :

Prep SP700 Caliper Cleaner
Prime SP118 High Temp Primer
Coat SPXXX Brake Color
Finish SP730 Gloss Clear

What is the "High Temp Primer" VHT doesn't sell that... Should I just do what most people said above? Clean it with Caliper cleaner then sand it a and use prep paint instead of temp primer and then paint it without a clear coat finish?

that looks good. I guess i'll just go with the caliper cleaner as prep and then paint it over with red.
