I am a big fan of the gloss black, looks more like the black chrome you can get and it matches the shine of the paint. Nice work man.

What I used was:
Dupli-colour sandable primer(black)
Dupli-colour High Gloss Black(standard can, not the $12.99 crap)
Dupli-colour High Gloss Clear
320/800 grit wetordry sand paper
**optional: 1000/2000 grit wetordry sand paper**
Dupli-colour wax and grease remover prep
Steps I took were:
1. masked off the grill, so only the chrome would be painted.
2. whiped down the grill with the painters prep
3. sanded the chrome with 320 grit till it was very dull and roughed up.(make sure you get all the nooks and cranies! if you cut corners it will show, the paint wont adhere to the chrome and will come off very easily when dry!)
4. laid down a bunch of good coats of primer, about 3 or 4, let dry
5. sprayed on 3 coats of the gloss black. let it dry for about 20 min.
6. took my 800 grit and wet sanded the gloss black to get rid of any high points caused by the primer. Use clean water and a lint free cloth and whipe down the whole grill.
7. Spray the gloss black fairly heavy, not enough for it to cause runs and drips, but enough so it will be smooth to the touch and not bumpy.
8.(optional) take your 1000 grit and lightly wet sand the gloss black if there are any bumps or uneveness.
9. spray on your clear, first 2 layers do it lightly, enough to coat the whole grill, let dry then spray 2-3 more heavier layers, to again get the smooth to the touch feel. let dry 1 hour before handling.
10.(optional) take your 2000 grit and wet sand the clear coat if too bumpy.
11.(optional) take some buffing compound and a micro-fibre cloth and buff out your grill.
Let the grill sit for a day before going on long drives, the paint is still soft for a few hours.
also, i didn't do steps 8,10 or 11, so get my final result.
